On the other hand, "It might as well hurt" are lyrics from Use Once and Destroy by Hole, which first verse is: "Its the emptiness that follows you there"... so there might be nothing on this blog! Laughing

Use once and destroy as in, use a letter once, destroy duplicates (to be totally literal in the title's meaning....?

ABCDEFGHJKMNOPQSTUVWXYZ.... anything that helps solve? it's still probably coded or something... but I don't really know, just an idea

I've tried different cyphers. These things can get awfully complex. I don't know to which level of complexity CiW would go into this. So far I got nothing!

For what it's worth, here is the numerical value of each letter:

6-7-14-17-2-15-26-21-13-26-2-24-16-8-20-2-3-22-4-7-6-11-17-5-7-11-3-17-21-20-23-10-4-1-19-4-13-6-14-4-14-7-26-7-4-24-25

This is probably a Caesar cipher with a keyword.

Ex: Keyword HOLE gives H=A, O=B, L=C, E=D, A=E, B=F, C=G, D=H, F=I, G=J etc.

We just need to try out different keywords until we get it right!

Or it could be a Vigenère cipher which is a bit trickier. But as long as we guess the right keyword and use the tabula recta this shouldn't be too hard.

Yeah, but after haven given it some thought I don't think it's that easy.

Problem is that we have combinations like FG, BC and XY. Unless they correspond to DE, HI, NO, OP, ST, TU, UV, AB (ie letter combinations that occure in the English language this cannot be a Caesar cipher.

This is HIGHLY interesting.

I'm thinking that the missing letters correspond to letters that are the least used in English, like Q, K, J or whichever they are.

If we trust the frequency analysis, we might suspect that D and G correspond to A and E (or E and A).

EDIT: D and G are probably E and T (or vice versa) since T is more common than A and the letters occure next to eachother in Frank's message.

The most common letters in the English language are ETAOIN SHRDLU

I think I'm on to something.

It appears part of the message codes into "estate" which seems to be a term used in Second Life.

So, I don't know if anyone posted this or not yet, and I am too lazy to go back and read.

Cassie's new video has a description of " It's the emptiness that follows you down", so it looks like the Hole song was a damn good find.

Cassie's new video is also tagged "Frank told lies". Big surprise.

Frankly, I'm not sure how the post on Frank's Private Thoughts blog could in any way be caused by his death/death throes/etc. First of all, he would have had to type out the perfectly coherent title to the post, BEFORE he died suddenly enough to cause the randomness in the message. Second, there is almost no way that his supposed wife would be typing on a computer that her husband died on--I'm assuming here that Frank's death probably involved at least minimal transmission of bodily fluids. And finally, if Frank just keeled over and slammed his head down on the keyboard, the resulting message would likely be gibberish featuring large quantities of the same letter/s. Think about it: if you press your head to your keyboard, does it randomly select letters from all over the keyboard and enter them, or does the computer get stuck on the area around the H or D or something and enter those letters a million times?

Side note: If Frank's wife left him because he was hearing voices, then how likely is that same woman to come back and leave a nice thank you note when she discovers that her husband has been communicating with a lot of other crazy people who think they hear voices too? The last thing I would expect that woman to do is try to maintain some kind of contact with the people who were (in her opinion) exacerbating Frank's illness.
