Just an idea i had...fleeting thought here, so pardon me, ahem.
Daniel is against this religious business, and is trying to either;
A-infiltrate the organization from the inside...possibly save Bree
B-he is a bit of a vigillante...he is out to get these people, not necessarily help them.
Now, I don't know if this is just the guy's acting or what...but...has anyone seen him smile?
He's always very quiet, thoughtful...almost reluctant to really do or say anything unless it's pried out of him.
What makes him and Bree friends, logically?
He's got a group of friends, goes to highschool...
And then he becomes friends with an ellusive home-schooled girl...a bit of a shut in, with absolutely no friends aside from him.
Given, she's adorable...but something doesn't quite fit. |

Does there need to be anything more for an 18-year-old guy?
Plus, Bree is nice to him and there are no other guys serving as a "threat." You must be a woman, because I can guarantee that every guy knows why Daniel is hanging around....

They went to public school together. Daniel explains this in one of his video responses. This is where he mentions that kids were being mean to her, just as Bree mentions Cassie being teased. So, I get the feeling he became her protector. Almost like a big brother.

Maybe Daniel is the savior in the end, but the jury is still out on that.
