This was the paragraph above the guestbook:
"We know that there are many negative people in the world who will share thoughtless ideas and painful lies. Some of our unsuccessful students have reacted in this manner. Ignore any words that will distract you from learning what you need to know. Be sure you stay focused on your work. "
And this was in assignment four:
"Please understand that there are some individuals who will do and say anything for attention. Ignore comments from people who seem to want to lead you astray. I am putting my trust in you. You are an orientation class like no other. I look forward to reading your work upon my return."
Do you think either (or both) of these has to do with that angry/crazy guestbook post from a yesterday?
Who do y'all think posted it?

I don't know if anyone has it, Ms Kelly deleted it, but the same person posted an angry comment after her last video on you tube here it is:
"You sound so gentle and caring. You can't play this game forever. We will laugh at your downfall. You are right to question your trust of others. Who do you have left to trust, Ms. Kelly? Those who will laugh trust in your downfall. We can't wait to laugh out loud. "
the one in the guestbook was along these lines. |

Tell me the sum of all the numbers between 3,141 and 5,926. |
Here is the solution, students.
Take the first and last terms in the set and find their average.
(3141 + 5926) / 2 = 4533.5
This average is the same for the entire set. If you were to add up all the values and divide by the number of terms in the set. You would get the same average. This is our key to finding the sum easily since we know the average and we can use simple math to figure out the number terms there are in the set.
(5926 - 3141 + 1) = 2786
What is the sum of 2,786 numbers whose average is 4,533.5?
(X / 2786) = 4533.5
X = 2786 * 4533.5
X = 12630311
The sum of all the numbers between 3,141 and 5,926 is 12,630,311
Carl Friedrich Gauss was once given a question similiar to this by his elementary school teacher as a class punishment. He had the answer within moments to the amazement of his teacher.
Another way of doing this same problem is through Pair-Wise addition. The first and last, second to first and last, third to first and last, will always add up to the same amount. Multiply that number by the amount of pairs and you have your answer.
3,141 + 5,926 = 9067
3,142 + 5,925 = 9067
3,143 + 5,924 = 9067
The number of pairs is half the total number of terms so 2786 / 2 = 1393
9,067 x 1,393 = 12,630,311 _________________ My LG15 Video Responses |

If there's going to be math...I don't know if I can survive orientation!
I haven't taken a math class in years, and I barely got out alive.
Also, in the angry guestbook note, they called her by (what I assume) to be her full (maiden?) name. Somebody posted it on another thread, but I can't find it. Apparently it has something to do with Alister Crowley?

Ah well, I had actually figured out that it was (5926 - 3141 +1) * 3141 + the sum of all consecutive numbers between 1 and (5926 - 3141), but that just kept heading back into the same problem. I might have hit on the second solution eventually, it seems the most obvious to me. |

D. Kimble just posted this on the guestbook:
"Thanks for your responses.
Life and existence pose interesting questions. Every question leads to another 100 questions.
I would like to think that we are ALL apart of the fabric of existence. There are just some levels that are of higher order.
With that being said, there are some things that we are meant to understand, and some things in which we are not. There is a time and place for everything. We must demonstrate patience. We must trust our own true path. We must be loyal to our family and friends. We can not expect to know all, or control all."
What do you think of D. Kimble? She seems very Mayati-ish to me...
Does she have a blog?
