Alright...so apparently this whole system requires some form of computer knowledge...so I will try and write this post for the second time and hopefully see some results. Mad

So. I have kinda been watching from the sidelines on the whole LG15 series, seeing what you guys have said and everything. So im finally gonna turn a new leaf and start posting stuff.

I dont know if you guys are as interested in this as I am, but i am very curious about the whole ceremony. I was wondering if you guys in the lg15 'community' could help me answer my question by trying to answer/thinking about the following questions:

1. Why do you think that the ceremony only involves teenage girls? Do you think that there is a whole other side of the ceremony that involves boys?

2. Why do you personally think that the purity bond and the shots were precursors to the ceremony? Do you think that the ceremony has something to do with sexuality?

3. Why do you think we never see Jules with a bandaid on her arm during any of her videos? Do you think that she is just hiding them so no one suspects anything? Does this just add to the feelings that she is a set up for bree? Or do you think these specific measures are only useful to bree?

4. Do you think that the ceremony has a specific criteria that Bree (and jules?) just happen to fufil, or do you think that Bree was just selected because of her parent's connections?

5. Do you think that the ceremony acutally exists? Do you think it is used to create a personal connection between the person and the religion, or is it only used as a form of threat to keep people in line?

6. Why do you, personally, believe that bree bailed on the ceremony the first time, or that the ceremony is so important to her religion? Do you think that it was just the lack of information that led her mind to wander? Do you think that bree is holding back information about the ceremony?

7. Do you think that the ceremony is dangerous (physically)? Do you think that this is why Bree wants to keep Jules from doing the ceremony, or do you think it is the psychological effects of it (like how you are being a defeatist if you let people control what you do)

8. Do you think that the ceremony is an acutal ceremony with a person of power and a procession of actions, or do you think it is a metaphor for somthing else entirely?

Oh goodness...I totally just exhausted my ceremony questions. Please feel free to either answer, or just think about these questions...I really would like to know what others think about this.
Thanks for reading! Very Happy

These are very interesting questions about The Ceremony.

Many of them have been discussed here ad nauseum. I can only speak for myself, but frankly I'm somewhat tired of trying to guess.

I think that the only satisfactory thing that can develop at this point is for The Ceremony to be either performed or explained in a video. Again, just my own opinion.

Please don't apologize. They ARE good questions. Some of them haven't been fully explored.

There seems to be two schools of thought on this (at least two)
    * The ceremony is some sort of fertility rite that will create a super-being. Thus requiring a male and female
    * The ceremony is some kind of religious magic that requires a blood sacrifice.

Quote:
2. Why do you personally think that the purity bond and the shots were precursors to the ceremony? Do you think that the ceremony has something to do with sexuality?

    * see above
    * the purity bond may have had something to do with hair length (don't laugh)
    * the purity bond could deal with a mental state:
** too much knowledge of the external world may nullify it.
      ** kissing--surprisingly--may nullify it.
** lack of unquestioning loyalty may nullify it.

    * what we do know is that sexual activity doesn't do it. (sorry guys! Embarassed ) whatever it is, it gets broken really easy!

Quote:
3. Why do you think we never see Jules with a bandaid on her arm during any of her videos? Do you think that she is just hiding them so no one suspects anything? Does this just add to the feelings that she is a set up for bree? Or do you think these specific measures are only useful to bree?

Jules has no band-aid because she was never going to be the ceremony girl. We're all pretty convinced at this point that Julie was a shill.

Quote:
4. Do you think that the ceremony has a specific criteria that Bree (and jules?) just happen to fufil, or do you think that Bree was just selected because of her parent's connections?

    * since we've taken care of the issue of Jules in #3, I'll just stick with Bree for this question. We're almost certain that it doesn't have to do with her "parents'" position; since her "father" revealed she was adopted.
    * Bree was selected at an extremely young age if not from birth. The scar on her back is in the shape of HoO icon so we think that whatever else it is, it marks her as the "One".
** that means it has nothing to do with upbringing
** it could have something to do with genetics. that hasn't been ruled out.
** it could have something to do with her real parents, though it wouldn't have anything to do with their position or she would have never been taken away from them.

Quote:
5. Do you think that the ceremony acutally exists? Do you think it is used to create a personal connection between the person and the religion, or is it only used as a form of threat to keep people in line?

After this last video, I think we can be fairly certain that it does exist!

Quote:
6. Why do you, personally, believe that bree bailed on the ceremony the first time, or that the ceremony is so important to her religion? Do you think that it was just the lack of information that led her mind to wander? Do you think that bree is holding back information about the ceremony?

My personal belief is that the character of Bree should have been played by a light ash blond with big bust and tiny waist.

Quote:
7. Do you think that the ceremony is dangerous (physically)? Do you think that this is why Bree wants to keep Jules from doing the ceremony, or do you think it is the psychological effects of it (like how you are being a defeatist if you let people control what you do)

This was pretty much answered above. either Bree has babies or she dies. I think she thinks she is going to die.

Quote:
8. Do you think that the ceremony is an acutal ceremony with a person of power and a procession of actions, or do you think it is a metaphor for somthing else entirely?

Personally, I think it's both a and b. I think the Order is a big old black hole of an organization out to RULE THE WORLD Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation Exclamation I think they've set up a religion to act as a front to other things and they use HoO's belief in an actual religious ceremony to select by genetic sampling. Now, that's my opinion, not the group's. There seem to be dozens of theories about this one.

Oh goodness...I totally just exhausted my ceremony questions. Please feel free to either answer, or just think about these questions...I really would like to know what others think about this.
Thanks for reading! Very Happy[/quote]

I think the best clues about the Ceremony have come from The Whiteboard I don't know why the Ceremony only includes girls. I do believe there maybe similar rituals for boys. I'm sure that there is some kind of iniation to become a Watcher.

lehcarice9 wrote:

I think the purity bond may be a little more abstract such as a purity of soul. I don't think it has to do with sexuality.

I think the Order had to know she was making videos which would suggest she was in on it. After Bree I don't think any peron of interest within the HoO would be allowed to make videos.

lehcarice9 wrote:

I think there are specific criteria. Personally I think the criteria are a combination of genetic and astrological.

I think there is a Ceremony. I feel like it may be some sort of Ascension. Ascension to what? I don't know. From what I know of scientology there are levels that you sort of ascend to. I think it could be something like that but then why would it only apply to girls. It could be a ascension into adulthood like many religions but that would seem harmless. Or it could be the ritual that takes you from the HoO into the Order, like when mob guys get "made" but again that doesn't explain why only girls.

The whole thing of the phony ceremony still boggles to this day.

It has to be dangerous. I think that's where these blood references factor in.

I think it's some kind of formal ritual.

There are many things that lead to the idea of blood-letting as a part of a fertility rite. Most have already been discussed (Epogen, iron pills, Egyption goddesses -- including Sopdat who is mentioned in one of the early vids, the wheat stalk on the logo for this website).

I think it has to be a female because of the fertility thing, though in this respect, it is ironic that Bree is not shaped like a traditional fertility goddess. A big bust and a tiny waist might have been appropriate here. But who knows -- physical type could play into it.

I'm not sure if this answers any of these questions but I was thinking the other day...

If we know HoO is more like a secret society than a religion really and the religious stuff is suspected to just be a front. The perhaps the ceremony isn't really a very religious thing at all? Perhaps all the stuff Bree had to learn was just fakery and isn't necessary for whatever happens at the ceremony.

Maybe it's not all symbolic etc after all. Maybe Bree just has something they need...? Confused

I'm not entirely convinced by this idea, it just popped into my head but I thought I'd mention it Razz

I was just dinkin' around in the forum, and i ran across a posting by ColbertNationGirl that pointed to this video: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DLqCM16i6QY&NR

In it, Bree talks about ancient Rome and it's dining habits. I quote: "The ancient Romans were the western world's only known cannibals. At the height of the Roman empire one of the greatest delicacies was flesh cut from a live slave. Eww. He was in the room to watch himself being eaten."

Next. I used to be a Catholic, and when I was I learned the entire Mass as spoken by the Priest in both Latin and English. (This is the kind of thing nerds did before computers ) During the Mass the priest says, "Take, you, and eat this. For this is my body." Then, "Take and drink, for this is my blood. The blood of the New and Everlasting Covenant which will be shed for you and for all men so that sins may be forgiven."

Finally, consider the fact that meridian lines are not only on a globe, and in the sky. They are also on the body.

I realize it's still just doing more speculation, but that reference by bree just rocked me. What if the ceremony involves the tracing of the meridian lines on the chosen to flay off the living flesh to eat to make a covenant?

To quote Bree again, "eww!" and how creepy do you have to be to think that up?

That's a really interesting theory, sack36. It makes sense, as it would explain the blood letting (therefore, the Epogen as well?), and some of the potential significance of meridian lines. It would also give relevance to that comment from Bree from way back in the day, and an interesting touch of irony to when she said "I'm really glad I didn't live in those days."

That's pretty much where I was going with it. I just wish I could find some references in the video that talked about the eating of the flesh bit.

Does anyone here on the forum remember the name of that club of "Gourmands" who meet to dine on endangered animals? They're really rich and pay thousands of dollars to have these single meals. Darn my memory!

To change the subject!!!!

I was reviewing the old videos again and I ran across a mention of Richard Feynmann. (Video #3) Bree did some major emphasis about him. All I knew about him is that he's a physics teacher who won a Nobel. Oh! and that he taught where my dad got his masters. So I looked him up. At a commencement speech at 1974 Caltech he spoke about Cargo Cult Science.

Feynman cautioned that to avoid becoming cargo cult scientists, researchers must first of all avoid fooling themselves, be willing to question and doubt their own theories and their own results, and investigate possible flaws in a theory or an experiment.

Here's the definition of Cargo cults: Cargo cults sometimes maintain that manufactured western goods ("cargo") have been created by divine spirits and are intended for the local indigenous people, but that white people have unfairly gained control of these objects. Cargo cults thus focus on overcoming what they perceive as undue 'white' influences by conducting rituals similar to the white behavior they have observed, presuming that the ancestors will at last recognize their own and send them cargo. Thus a characteristic feature of cargo cults is the belief that spiritual agents will at some future time give much valuable cargo and desirable manufactured products to the cult members.

Wouldn't it just be twisted enough for the Order to have used this logic when dealing with the HoO?
