I don't think it's a man. It could be a lady with a really butch haircut. But, yes... I saw that (right when she says "check").
I don't think Daniel reading the Bible has any significance. They've been at that hotel for, what, five days? By the fifth day, you've generally read all of the menus in the bedside drawer and the local flavor magazines... probably got a USA Today in the bathroom.  Daniel's probably bored stiff. |

I think just b/c he's in a black suit makes it seem pretty significant. I mean how many people would you see in a suit walking by the swimming pool in a motel? probably no one so he's probably from the order. |
