Not sure where I should post this, so feel free to move it or just throw it away. But I thought we should readdress the topic of Free Will. In "Back Home," Daniel mentions "Freedom."

He is referring to a man who spends most of his year dealing with mortgages for a living, and the other two months homeless, hopping trains.

Mortgages are the money paid off by homeowners. I thought it was interesting that this is his job when he prefers a free-er life.

Daniel calls this man's life "freedom." So, that could mean several things about his concept of Freedom:
1. Riding on a train for free.
-not being bogged down by payments
-not having control over where you are going, just enjoying the ride
2. Being homeless.
-again, no need for taxes.
-no attachment to one certain place.. therefore no feelings of homesickness (like what he experienced)
3. Independence.
-not being held back by others
-only responsible for yourself (not Bree too, in his case)
-no need to rely on others (Jonas)
4. No expectations.
-no standards set
-no desire for love from another (Bree) or family (his parents)
5. Postconventional-ism.
-this is a psychological term. the theory is that postconventional stage is one reached by few people. it is the stage in which one does not act according to political, social, or economic morals, but by true morals- by what is just. these are people that sacrifice a life by societal standards to explore life above law.

If I think of any other connections, I will add them.
I think it is important to connect this to the statement by Aleister Crowley: "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the law."
Free Will.
The belief that people have the right to follow their own prerogatives. However, the meaning of this "Freedom" is up for interpretation.
So, what is Daniel's interpretation? How does it differ from that of Bree? of Jonas, Gemma, OpAphid, Tachyon, etc.?

Again, if this is useless, just delete it. No offense will be taken.
I think it's an interesting theme to explore, that's all.

This is a great topic for discussion. We already know that Bree's parents, specifically her mother dealt greatly with this topic and expressed it throughout Bree's upbringing. Hence Bree's confusing in making decisions, yet following instructions, could just be a sign of her maturity level.

Gemma's interpretation of freedom definately differs from Bree's view, and that of her parents. Gemma has been in hiding from the order, therefore expirences very little true freedom and free will. She has previously stated to Bree that it "isn't her decision", or isn't her place, but at the same time it is her decision. In that specific video, Gemma is insinuating that Bree, more so than others, has little freedom in deciding to complete the ceremony or not. This video specifically showed Gemma's interpretation on Freedom and Free Will. It showed that Gemma herself might be under the control of the Order, or another force, that provides guidelines for her life and restricts her from performing her own free will.

So far Jonas' perception of Freedom or how he practices it is speculation from lack of facts. We do not know too much about Jonas and his actual life. It is believed that he lives alone and is very wealthy. Jonas has no need to work therefore he is not bound to a day to day job. He is not restricted to work so that he can afford things that would give him freedom. With no parents, Jonas has no restriction from making his own decisions and doing as he pleases. We do not know if Jonas has any contact with the Order, or any other restricting force, at this time. Therefore, Jonas' perception of Freedom is his life at the current moment. He is free to do as he pleases and has enough money to do so.
