Subject edited to hopefully alleviate any confusion of the purpose of this thread.
I found this information when I was looking to see if the orchid could symbolize something about Jonas, and found quite a lot of other interesting information.

Here is the official site about the Cremaster Cycle:

http://www.cremaster.net/#finalState

Reposting from the Video section cuz I'm too lazy to retype:

Wow, this is WEIRD! I typed in a search in Google with ORCHID and SYMBOLIZE and got this:

http://www.cremasterfanatic.com/Synopsis3.html

Excerpt - "The Architect is shown wearing a Masonic apron and holding five bouquet of flowers representing the five Cremaster films (white orchid, Rocky Mountain sage, narcissus, Irish gorse, and calla lily, respectively)."

Another excerpt - "For Level Three, we are presented once again with Aimee Mullins, this time in a white dress and transparent crystal legs. In “The Order” she is known as the “Entered Novitiate” and represents the Third Degree of Freemasonry. She can also be seen as an alter-ego of the Apprentice."
So I looked up Cremaster in Wiki:

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Cremaster_Cycle

"The 'Cremaster' is a muscle that acts to retract the testes. This keeps the testes warm and protected from injury. (If you keep this in mind as you view the piece it will be easier to find other clues and make sense of the myriad allusions to anatomical development, sexual differentiation, and the period of embryonic sexual development - including the period when the outcome is still unknown."

The Cremaster films are "a self-enclosed aesthetic system consisting of five feature-length films that explore processes of creation."

And when I clicked on the IMdB link to Cremaster 3 at the bottom I got this:

http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0321781/
The Order?????

OVERALL EXCERPT: "Biologically, the cremaster is a muscle that raises and lowers the testicles. Barney uses the descension of the cremaster muscle as a symbol for the onset of male gender (which appears about nine weeks after a fetus is conceived). The five films progress from a state of undifferentiated gender (a fully ascended cremaster muscle, represented by the floating Goodyear Blimps and other symbols), through the organism’s struggle to resist gender definition, to the inevitable point where maleness can no longer be denied (complete descension of the cremaster and release of the testes)."

Cremaster 1 excerpt: " a rendering of an undifferentiated reproductive system (which marks the first six weeks of fetal development). Gliding in time to the musical score, the chorus girls delineate the contours of a still-androgynous gonadal structure, which echoes the shapes of the two blimps overhead, and symbolizes a state of pure potential."

Cremaster 2 excerpt: "On the biological level it corresponds to the phase of fetal development during which sexual division begins." , "Gilmore welcomes death, refusing to appeal his sentence and opting for execution by firing squad, in a literal interpretation of the Mormon belief that blood must be shed in order for a sinner to obtain salvation."So, what could this mean, if anything to LG15?

Cremaster 3 excerpt: "Called “The Order,” this competition features a fantastical incarnation of the Apprentice as its sole contestant, who must overcome obstacles on each level of the museum's spiraling rotunda."

Cremaster 4 excerpt: " This penultimate episode describes the system's onward rush toward descension despite its resistance to division. The logo for this chapter is the Manx triskelion - three identical armored legs revolving around a central axis." , "The Loughton Ram stands at this junction - a symbol for the integration of opposites, the urge for unity that fuels this triple race. But before the Candidate and Hacks meet, the screen goes white. The Candidate's dream of transcending his biology to dwell in the space of pure symmetry is shattered."

Cremaster 5 excerpt: "They reach up through the water and affix the garland to the Giant's scrotum. In the warm waters of the thermal baths, the cremaster muscle releases and the testicles descend. This climactic moment - the emergence of a fully differentiated state - is rendered visible when the pigeons soar upward with ribbons trailing. " On its descent, the stream divides into two droplets that strike the water simultaneously. Two perfect circles resonate outward, filling the surface of the bath with their waves, suggesting, in turn, eternal renewal or the echoes of a system expiring." (that darn infinity symbol?)

seeing that miles is a doctor, he must know this...

hmm..
maybe there is a link. Maybe The Cremaster is symbolizing the type of protection that the order uses...
and if this is connected to Jonas, this could make you wonder.

NOTHING. Or next to nothing. The Cremaster Cycle does use a lot of Masonic symbols, so does the Illuminati group (from what I understand), and so does LG15. They're just all borrowing from the same source.

If you go to the official site, http://www.cremaster.net, and read the plot synopses of the films, you'll see that a direct connection is pretty much out of the question.

I think the importance is in the biology, which is the point of the Cremaster Cycle, not the Masonic mentions...I just bolded those because the Masons have been mentioned quite a bit in LG15.

I've been there, linked it, and took excerpts which I posted above.

Well, but you picked stuff that sounded good to you completely out of the context of the plot. And what you've highlighted isn't anything unique to the Cremaster Cycle films--it's stuff that Barney is drawing from other sources.

The same sources that LG15 is drawing from, perhaps. That's what I'm saying: they're both pulling ideas & symbols from the same places, rather than one inspiring the other.

Seriously, the Creators don't strike me as Barney fans. You have to be a pretty die-hard contemporary arts patron to get into that stuff. Or high, perhaps... Smile

Yeah, sometimes you've got to wonder what their scriptwriting meetings are like. Laughing

I picked excerpts from the official website of each synopsis that might have some meaning to LG15 and the biology aspect. They have everything to do with the plot, which is to explore processes of creation.. And because I put the link, people are free to read the entire synopsis, which I obviously wouldn't post here because of space.

Edit: It's more than biology: "As the cycle evolved over eight years, Barney looked beyond biology as a way to explore the creation of form, employing narrative models from other realms, such as biography, mythology, and geology."
