A disagreement over the old texts? It's like a right of passage for any religion. |
Ooh yes, schismatic infighting, yay! Although one side of the schism is an Order with (at least) thousands of members, Watchers, OpAphid, etc. and the other is a dozen textual scholars with ooh old typewriters.

Ok, so this is my first forum post. But I have been lurking for a long while now. And I think I may be on to something.
So, after watching the last video I thought I would check out the initials to the occupations, now because a list of most of those occupations would be endless i started with the easiest, The former CIA director. It turns out that from 1993 to 1995 the director of the CIA was one R. James Woolsey (I don't know why his first name wasn't listed). But hey thats the main initials "RJW" it also lists that he owned a private law practice later in his career, which could be a piece of the lawyer bit. Here is a link to where I got the info about Mr. Woolsey. As for the rest of the occupations and rest of the initials, I am at a loss for where to start.
On another note of these initials, when I first saw them I thought that maybe if you took the number it is in the alphabet form each letter (a=1, b=2, c=3, etc.) and formed a list of 3 different numbers, it would form an ottendorf cipher, I have no idea what the key would be, but I was hoping you guys could help with that, maybe one of those documents on empires? I am currently working on working out all the numbers, but first I am compiling my own list of initials, seeing as all the lists have different lengths, very confusing, so if anyone wants to get on IRC and give me a hand it would be greatly appreciated. Also any input on anything I have said would be great too.
EDIT: Ok, so here are the numbers for the ottendorf cipher:
11, 16, 8
4, 12, 12
7, 20, 11
15, 13, 1
13, 2, 3
20, 3, 13
10, 3, 14
16, 19, 18
4, 20, 1
3, 18, 14
19, 2, 3
I was using this set of initials:
KPH
DLL
GTK
OMA
MBC
TCM
JCN
PSR
DTA
CRN
SBC
That list of numbers is only as accurate as the initials so again, we cant be sure. But there are more problems, even if I have the initials right, maybe the numbers for the cipher are to be derived form the letters a different way. Or maybe the letter numbers need to be put through another cipher in order to get the right numbers cipher. Plus just to make things more difficult I have no idea what the document is that would be the key to the cipher. So any suggests you guys have would be greatly appreciated, also if you have any ideas of documents and want to crunch the numbers that would also be great.
The more I investigate my theory the more I think it is probably not right. But heh, "If you see something, say something" - 2600

Since R.J.W. was the author of the article (Jonas' dad) and not one of the people who received a copy, it's unlikely the former CIA director reference was about him.
I also don't think the Creators would be so insensitive as to use the names of real people who have died in recent years under mysterious circumstances (that would be kind of a kick in the face to the people that knew them). I also don't think they'd use the names of living ones either (because that would inevitably lead to those people being bothered about this by a fan). I expressed something similar earlier to someone who found news of a former CIA director who died in a boating accident.
That said, nice work on the research. Stick around, and welcome to the forum. |

And from here on out, he will forever be who I see when I think of Jonas dad Good ole RJW.

Anyway, that guys isn't Jonas' father. If any of these people are definitely not real people it's Jonas' dad. Also, he didn't disappear at sea and is alive.

Welcome Mini-Modder I'm impressed! (not that I'm anygood at decoding any of this stuff) But welcome, and kudos for giving it a shot. Now I know what an ottendorf (arnold) cipher is. I had never heard of it. I had to go out and research it after seeing your post. Thanks for educating me.! _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

In an alternate reality, Robert James Woolsey (RJW) died in a boating accident instead of William Colby, and is Jonas dad.

Yes, I agree that, that guy has nothing to do with it. It was just interesting that searching for "former cia directors" on Google, gives you his bio as the first result.
Anyway about the cipher, I was thinking could the key to the cipher be one of the books from one of the drops? Does anyone have these books and can check it out?
Also for others who aren't sure what an ottendorf (or arnold) cipher is here is the Wikipedia article explaining them. Or if you have seen National Treasure, its the thing on the back of the Deceleration of Independence. |

Well, duh!
Normally I'd feel bad about going so off topic, but there really isn't much of a topic to stay on. Pfft, when a real clue comes people can make a new thread. hahaha. I suck. _________________ “It takes a thousand voices to tell a single story. ”
