I figured because i have so many, i would start a thread for posting awkward/really bad/pointless stories

tada! thread started!

now to kick it off:
so i was explaining to my mother how people at school knew what colors to wear to varsity basketball games (generally through school email). So my mom says, "okay, so you would get an email saying 'come to the game and wear blue' or 'come to the game and bring a dead fish' "
at which point i totally cracked up
where do you even find a dead fish
so i told my freind this story (he didn't see how funny it was) a little while ago. and today, giving an example of my bad stories, said "and then her parents were like, "why don't you bring a dead fish to the basketball game?" ". which was so funny that i kindof collapsed giggling in the corner for a little while

cool story right? your turn

I totally have to giggle, because bringing a dead fish to hockey games was tradition at my high school. Someone would bring one and throw it on the ice before the game started.

I know, lame, but what else can you do for fun in NH?

yep

It still happens at some place! On the east coast in the NHL very often people will throw squid on the ice if they're not happy!

what i want to know is who brings squid to a hockey game
"hey dude, what's that squid for?"
"you know, just in case"

anyway... new awkward story!
so in english class we're reading macbeth. its great. so we were talking about how the thane of cawdor died (he was a traitor), and how someone says "nothing in life became him like the leaving it", basically meaning he died really respectfully (up for interpretation, that's how i see it). so i was trying to explain this, but i'm sick, so i can't really process thought. so i say "so cawdor was a bad guy and he did bad stuff, and he knew that and so when he was executed he was like 'oh, i guess i should die now' and he was totally zen about it"
at which point my english teacher gives me the weirdest look IN THE WORLD and starts laughing
oh darn

i have an awkward story...

so i sat at a table in the library today not realizing that a couple tables down was this really irritating guy that i almost dated before realizing he was a psycho last year...well anyways it made me laugh but he thought i was smiling at him so he waved and i looked down...like 10 minutes later he brought me note and then walked away..the note said something like "im sorry i ruined our friendship, the best friendship of my life" and some other crap that i dont feel like typing, so when he wasnt looking i packed up all my stuff and moved to the same spot but one floor up. god that kid is like in high school, writing notes...i hope i dont run into him again evAr

wow... that is ridiculously awkward. i have a similar one (from a while ago)
this awkward ex of mine and i are still freinds. we were both in the school musical. my costume had a wide neck, so sometimes my brastraps showed. so one time we were in the dressing room with my current love interest, and he was like "oh clara, your brastrap is showing" and i was like "oh, are you the brastrap patrol?" just kidding around. and then he says... wait for it...
"clara, you know i love your boobs"
oh my god ewwwwww noooooooo. so i died right there and got really mad at him, saying how he wasn't allowed to say that. and he played it off as nothing. but then current love interest boy said "actually, you can't say that. if she doesn't want you to, it's sexual harassment".
so later, i'm still mad at him. so he writes me a note saying "i'm sorry" and i ignore it. so he wrote a new note saying (and i quote) "I <3 U". at which point i ask him if he even understands the issue
and its been awkward between us ever since. whatever.

Oh! I got one, not nearly as long (or funny), but damnit, I'm drinking and feel like posting. Very Happy

At one point I was catering at Pfizer for a job. And this was the executive Pfizer, not the scientist side. Well I was pretty popular with people there (the place had just opened, so I was doing a lot of jack-of-all-trades and hopping between departments, hence, everyone knew me). At one point I was in the elevator getting ready to make a delivery for a lunchtime buffet and there was a guy in there I knew. He was dressed like he was about to leave and when I questioned it he told me he was going to a funeral. When my floor came up I got ready with my cart to leave and just said, without thinking, "Have a great day!" Rolling Eyes I felt like such an a-hole afterwards.
