It's a tie between Human Ransom and Interrogation 101 for me. Although, I think I like Interrogation 101 just a little more, cuz Jonas was so hot. But then again Daniel was pretty hot in Human Ransom, so I can't decide...what is it about guys being tied up that makes them so hott?!?

Men are SO hot when vulnerable; I like them that way.

Daniel was so hot in "Miss Me".

My favorite is "Poor Pluto" because it's such a nicely done piece of allegory and gives a glimpse of the darkness and despair behind Bree's cutesy facade.

A common phrase in Thelema is “Every man and every woman is a star”, so when Bree says "That's when I stopped asking questions about stars", she could mean "I gave up and stopped trying to understand people". So sad.

Would that really work as a metaphor for people if she was asking questions about literal stars before that, though?

I'm not so sure the people weren't metaphorical too. In "Daniel Crossed the Line", Bree talks about how the other kids didn't even have the decency to pick on her - "I didn't even exist". Bree could have made up the whole "asking about stars" thing as a way to try to convince herself that at least they didn't like her for some reason rather than just being a nonentity - its better to be hated than nonexistent. She is a twisted little thing - that much we do know. The question is just how twisted and in what direction.

No, I was asking could the stars in "Poor Pluto" have been a metaphor for people (the ones she would no longer be trying to understand) if she was asking her teacher questions about literal stars? It would be a really random jump since there had been no previous indication of her trying to understand people.

The metaphor would work even less then, wouldn't it?

Anyway, I think she wasn't lying about the stars thing. In "I Want To Take Bree To A Party!" Daniel says he remembers Bree asking those questions and being teased.

Hi, Balmung.

I see no metaphor in "Poor Pluto". Bree says at the end that Pluto could join with other non-planets, or whatever she calls them. Since Bree doesn't have any friends except Daniel, it doesn't seem to be metaphorical. I think it's just Bree talking about her love of astronomy.

Interrogation 101. to me it was as if a very very young Tarantino directed it.

Welcome back, Balmung. Wondered where you'd wandered off to.

Yeah, that's the problem I always had with suggestions that she was being metaphorical with relation to herself. It just didn't make any sense since Pluto wasn't being alienated like she was and it actually had several friends, whereas Bree only had Daniel.

You guys don't get the metaphor?
Pluto's only friend was UB-313 basically. It along with a few other outcasts were relagated to the "minor planets" category, segregated from the regular solar system. Just like she and Daniel were outcasts from their high school and regular society basically. She was definitely being metaphorical about herself, how can you say Pluto wasn't being alienated when it was kicked out of the family of planets?!
