In this last puzzle much has come to light. We have all trusted that Walter is doing the right thing in destroying chemical J, which we now know as The Cure.

But who is Walter, really? And just exactly what is this The Cure for?

Should we really trust him?

I'm sticking with my original thoughts for the moment.

While the disease may genetically transmitted by female carriers, XSCID is a distinctly MALE disease. Imagine what would happen to the global male population if, in fact, this gene could be further developed and enhanced in the female population.

To tie all of this back to LG15 and OpAphid, you have to do a little research here on the forum. I'll give you a head start, do a search for "Y-The Last Man" - it's a comic series that's has a distinct influence on the Tachyon story. It also happens that in that series the entire male population of the world is wiped out, with the exception of 1 man. Hence, the reference to the "Y" chromosome.

In addition, it's been speculated that the Order or OpAphid, if you prefer, is a distinctly female oriented organization.

There are more ties and if you put all of this together and you might draw the conclusion that the Order is intent on the elimination of all males of the human species.

O.M.G.
You are a genius. And this storyline rules. I hope you are right and I hope the creators catch on!

I actually started a novel a bit back where the world is run by women due to the after effects of a nuclear war... anyway PLEASE SOMEONE INCORPORATE THIS STAT! ahem.

.... unless it's a "women are evil" sort of thing. Then I'm gone. Laughing

But yes, I see all the connections and think you have a brilliant theory.

Embarassed I'm blushing.
Since we're conjecturing - imagine this...
Bree's dad somehow received information about what he was really working on and wanted to defect from the Order. (He's a male, after all)
Perhaps the information Jonas has relates to the Order's true philosophies - this would explain the symbols.

As far as recruiting Bree's dad - hypothetically speaking, if you wanted to recruit someone from inside the Order over to your side, you'd have to have some pretty compelling evidence. I think that's what the Anti-Order symbol refers to.
Theta Eta (Death/Destruction) (Textual Criticism) Similar to the Skull and Crossbones this represents destruction of the Order via exposure (as related to TauPhi and LamdaSigma). As a group it would refer to an "Anti-Order".

I interpret the other symbols this way:
Tau Phi (Life) (Philosophy) Represents the Philosophy of the Order - not necessarily a religious philosophy per se, but more a compound philosophy drawn from varying influences.

Lambda Sigma (Head or Brain) (RNA Factor) Representing either a higher faction/genetic factor or genetic mutation.

Whew! Am I making any sense?

Whether this ties directly to OpA or not remains to be seen. Either way, the storyline ties so neatly into LG15 and OpA that it seems like a fit... for now anyway...

So, playing off of Trainer's story, is the "Cure" actually the disease or the cure for the disease? Neutral

That is the mystery.

I haven't really made much clear about which "side" I am on. I don't think there are only two sides, but that's besides the point.

I am on Jane's side Cool

If Walter is willing to give me information, then with Walter I shall deal.

Do we have a bunch of Tachy Breetards in this group? Laughing

Okay, so I just went back and rewatched Traveler's and Walter's videos. And since he has footage of what happened at the Facility, I'm thinking that Walter's job while he was working there was simply to record everything and send in the footage, per Traveler's video saying that that was some people's job. Walter may actually have no idea what it is that he is having us destroy. He may be hell bent on pissing off his "former employer" since he left on bad terms and the destruction of said items will piss them off.

True, I think Trainer is on to something. Maybe a little hasty in assuming the order is planning to wipe out ALL males (oh c'mon, who wants to wipe out Johnny Depp, looking the way he does in Pirates of the Caribbean?).

Awhile back, a forum user called "Luv2Skydive" left this information:

Quote:
The Illuminati have Grande Dames, who a lot of the time, are the first faces a baby who will be programmed sees as part of the process. Maybe Bree's mom is a Grande Dame? I looked it up in Wikipedia and oddly enough, it made me think of Bree!

"A grande dame is a stock character designed to represent a stereotype of an elderly high society socialite.

In popular culture, the grande dame is usually portrayed as a slightly flamboyant woman, prone to extravagant and eccentric fashion, such as feather boas, large hats"

It could possibly be a female majority that governs. Also there could be a plot to wipe out males, whereas research is already underway in finding other means of producing offspring. Maybe this "cure" is a means of keeping some males alive. Only time will tell, I guess.

Deagol, TOSG and janesalteredstates (janeAFK) from the chat:

<deagol> well i cant make sense of the note in McP's maildrop
<TOSG> what do you mean?
<deagol> it was sent by trav, right?
<TOSG> no, I mean, what maildrop, what note?
<deagol> the note says, "WD THERE HAS BEEN AN INCIDENT STOP WHAT HAPPENED TO THE J NINETEEN STOP"
<TOSG> when was this?
<deagol> the parcel that was sent to McP
<deagol> http://lonelygirl15.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=6195
<TOSG> ohhh, right
<TOSG> yeah, I don
<TOSG> 't know, very interesting
<deagol> was he saying that to WD?
<TOSG> could be. Or maybe it was from WD?
<deagol> yea, either way, why would he send that to McP?
<TOSG> good question
<deagol> here's walt talking about trav: "It looks like the kid has been somewhat successful, even if altogether reckless. I didn 2019t expect any better of him. Quite frankly I didn 2019t think that he was competent for this job, but he is all I have. The same goes for you."
<deagol> then some more dissing: "So neither I nor the youngster nor any one of you can complete the task alone. The kid told me he had some success on the computer, and this is where we are now. Maybe we can work together in the future, assuming you aren 2019t screw-ups like he is."
<TOSG> yeah...hmm. Maybe TJ19 was temporarily in "custody" of the J19, and he messed something up...maybe that's why they're being sent to us in the first place?
<JaneAFK> Is J19 the chemical?
<deagol> i think its interesting that WD thinks TJ is reckless, incompetent, and a screw-up
<JaneAFK> Or I should say, what is J19
<TOSG> well, I don't know...it seems like they're "the cure," as you discovered, but who knows what that means
<JaneAFK> The Cure makes me think of Nazis or something. Like Curing humanity of something. Not a cure for a disease. I don't know why.
<JaneAFK> I'm probably just holding on to Walter being a "good guy."
<TOSG> I think he prolly is
<TOSG> I mean, why else would he show his cards so soon?
<TOSG> there are still plenty more J-vials that must be destroyed...
<JaneAFK> Yeah and if he is working for The Order, why the need to stay under the radar?
<JaneAFK> I mean, who is he hiding from
<JaneAFK> And why would he need our help
* JaneAFK is now known as JaneAFKish
* JaneAFKish has quit IRC
<TOSG> Jane: good point, he could prolly just split up the J-vials among his order friends
<deagol> aww jane dont quit when youre ahead Smile
<TOSG> hehe
<deagol> tosg, when i read about xscid i remember something like the only genetic cure found so far
<TOSG> yeah, I remember seeing something along those lines, too
<TOSG> hmmm
<deagol> and something about bone marrow transplant
<deagol> does that mean there's a specific gene sequence to cure each individual?
<TOSG> I tend to think, though, that the plot won't be THAT based in reality
<deagol> like, you have to find a matching donor?
<TOSG> for the marrow transplant?
<deagol> yea
<TOSG> I guess you could say that
<TOSG> although I think it's prolly way more than one gene
<deagol> yea... i couldnt think of the right way to phrase that
<TOSG> but yeah, I'd think it'd have to be a match
<TOSG> although
<deagol> what im thinking is, they've been playing with bioengineered humans/clones/whatever, but they've all come out with XSCID...
<deagol> so they had these 19 samples of bone marrow to cure them ?
<TOSG> that's actually kind of an interesting thought...usually, it needs to be a match because the immune system will reject it otherwise, but people with XSCID have a compromised immune system in the first place...interesting
<deagol> so WD is trying to destroy the cure so the clones die?
<TOSG> interesting idea
<deagol> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/XSCID#Treatment
<deagol> so, the bone marrow tranplant was the old treatment
<deagol> and now they've found success with gene therapy
<TOSG> read it...interesting
<deagol> and this i quoted in the forums: "Trial treatments of SCID have been gene therapy's only success; since 1999, gene therapy has restored the immune systems of at least 17 children with two forms (ADA-SCID and X-SCID) of the disorder."
<TOSG> maybe in trying (and succeeding) to find a better cure for XSCID, they found a way to alter the human genome at will, thereby opening pandora''s box
<deagol> oh damn that bubble kid caught herpes from his sister's transplant Sad
<TOSG> aww.
<deagol> epstein-barr virus, right?
<TOSG> "herpes" and "sister" in the same sentence can't lead to too many happy endings that I can think of Razz
<deagol> lol
<TOSG> is herpes EBV? I know that mono is
<deagol> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Epstein-Barr
<deagol> yea i guess it was mono then... but it says "herpes family"
<deagol> theres that awkward connection of words again
<TOSG> ahahaha

Wow. So we may be destroying the cure for XSCID - but only specific to certain individuals who may be Order Clones! Shocked

Shocked So plaid flannel lumberjack shirts must be a sign of Bree becoming Anti-Order.

OK, so my question is, why are "they" and who is trying to destroy "The Cure?"

Still waiting for a reply from Walter, BTW.
