Is there any reason to believe that this MySpace is canon? Other than the voice mail thing?

I don't think it's canon. The Creators would have probably hired a voice actor instead of using a computer voice...
FWIW, I left a voicemail and received this MySpace PM in return:

Well, I was going to say which faction I would inform, but depending on what type of agent you are, that would vary.
