Some people think this is a mistake in continuity, but a person can be shy and reserved but still be passionate about certain things. I used to be VERY VERY quiet, but talk about history or my God, and you'd either get a woman on fire with excitement and joy over the subject, or a vicious, sharp-tongued enemy (depending on whether the other person came to have a discussion or a fight ;)).
