I wanted to note that while I didn't see too many mentions of the editing in the existing transcripts, when I watched this video the choppy editing seemed a bit more significant. Yes, most of the videos have choppy editing, but the way sentences were often cut off in the middle haphazardly seems to hint that there were parts of the argument that Bree wanted to leave out despite her overall candor in sharing this episode with her viewers. --[[User:Brucker|Brucker]] 13:50, 6 October 2006 (PDT)

It is my humble request that every single clue of Cassie NOT be given its own page in the LGpedia. Some clues are as brief as:

Clue #5 - A voicemail recorded on September 17, 2006

So much of that is extremely short. Also, the clues have become so numerous because every time cassie says __.._. it now counts as a clue. :A further thought; the way you could consolidate the short clues into a single article yet still retain direct links to the clue, preventing you from needing to scroll through the article, is by wiki-linking subheadings directly. For instance, let's say you consolidated all the articles into an article called [[Cassieiswatching clues]], and had a subheading using <nowiki>== ==</nowiki> for each individual clue. While I agree each clue should not have it's own page, the amount of clues is getting unmanageable here IMHO. I have split each clue into it's own section. I don't know if that was the right thing to do or not, but it certainly makes edits easier.

'''Grant Steinfeld, a.k.a. Bukanator''' was an early participant in [[Lonelygirl15 (production)|Lonelygirl15]], and shot some still photography of the filming of the first episodes of Lonelygirl15. He was an employee of [[the creators]] rather than a creator himself, in charge of designing some of LG15's online content.

Steinfeld is a San Fransisco area software engineer who also very briefly played the role of [[Bukanator]], who was a fictitious early fan on YouTube who started LonelyGirl's first fan site, [http://www.lonelygirl15.com lonelygirl15.com].

==Dismissal from the project==

In July 2006, Steinfeld was shut out of the project, but still had access to Bukanator's e-mail accounts. Without informing the creators of Lonelygirl15, he went to Candace Murphy, a reporter with ''[http://www.insidebayarea.com/columnists/candacemurphy Inside Bay Area]'', and told her that Lonelygirl15 was a production and encouraged her to hack into the Lonelygirl15 e-mail accounts to learn the identity of [[the creators]].

He later told a different version of the story to [[Virginia Heffernan]] of the ''New York Times''. Steinfeld claimed that he grew tired of running the site and dropped out of the project after fans discovered that the site had been registered before the first Lonelygirl15 video was posted on YouTube.

Some of Steinfeld's photography of the shooting of the early Lonelygirl15 episodes was published in the ''New York Times'', and was briefly available on Steinfeld's personal web site. While both interviews he gave to ''Inside Bay Area'' and the ''New York Times'' violated his Non-Disclosure Agreement, the specific terms of Steinfeld's NDA are unknown, and it is unclear if his release of the photography violated the NDA.

'''Bukanator''' was the pseudonym of a [[Lonelygirl15 (production)|Lonelygirl15]] fan who posted comments to her vblogs on [[YouTube]] and ran the [http://www.lonelygirl15.com/ lonelygirl15.com] website and forum as a fan site. He was played briefly by [[Grant Steinfeld]].

The character of Bukantor was supposed to appear like a regular fan; however, when it was discovered this "fan site" was actually created a month before [[Bree]] started her vlogs, the Bukanator fan site quickly found itself at the eye of a storm of suspicion. To cover his tracks, the character of Bukanator claimed that Daniel had actually registered the website as a joke (reasons for this have been given as either because Daniel told Bree if she ever started blogging he bet she'd become famous and would need a fan site, or that Daniel registered the site because Bree bragged if she were to ever upload vblogs to youtube she'd become famous). While Daniel had registered lonelygirl15.com, but had no plan of using it, so the story went that Bukanator e-mailed him asking permission to make a fan site and Daniel handed the already registered one over to Bukanator.

Bukanator claimed to be a Web designer with an interest in photography. Under his watch, lonelygirl15.com remained almost completely stagnant. He would upload the videos, but with virtually no promotion of the site or its forum (which were silent) almost no one ever went to it. Finally a few core fans began talking at the forums and eventually a community was built up there, though none of this had anything to do with actions on Bukanator's part. In fact, he was widely criticized by the fans at the forum for being a poor moderator. They made many pleas for improvements to the site and especially the forum, and despite the occassional promise he'd do something about it, Bukanator never actually did anything. Frustration with his site eventually led a group of fans to create and move to an alternate fan site, [[The Children of Anchor Cove]], and virtually all forum members joined it, leaving the official forum near silent once again.

The character of Bukanator continued to operate the board well after Steinfeld's exit from the project sometime in July 2006. It is unknown who was moderating at the board in his absence under the name, and it's hard to know which moderator shortcomings were Steinfeld's.

Dharmabum420: splitting out "Bukanator" info into separate article

'''Grant Steinfeld, a.k.a. Bukanator''' was an early participant in [[Lonelygirl15 (production)|Lonelygirl15]], and shot some still photography of the filming of the first episodes of Lonelygirl15.

Steinfeld is a San Fransisco area software engineer who briefly played the role of [[Bukanator]], who was a fictitious early fan on YouTube who supposedly started LonelyGirl's first fan site, lonelygirl15.com.

==Dismissal from the project==

In July 2006, Steinfeld was shut out of the project, but still had access to Bukanator's e-mail accounts. Without informing the creators of Lonelygirl15, he went to Candace Murphy, a reporter with ''[http://www.insidebayarea.com/columnists/candacemurphy Inside Bay Area]'', and told her that Lonelygirl15 was a production and encouraged her to hack into the Lonelygirl15 e-mail accounts to learn the identity of [[the creators]].

He later told a different version of the story to [[Virginia Heffernan]] of the ''New York Times''. Steinfeld claimed that he grew tired of running the site and dropped out of the project after fans discovered that the site had been registered before the first Lonelygirl15 video was posted on YouTube.

Some of Steinfeld's photography of the shooting of the early Lonelygirl15 episodes was published in the ''New York Times'', and was briefly available on Steinfeld's personal web site. Because the terms of Steinfeld's Non-Disclosure Agreement are unknown, it is unclear if his release of the photography violated the NDA.

The function of www.tinyurl.com is to create shorter links, it does this by generating a random combination of letters and/or numbers based on the url that it was given, meaning that the same link will generate the same tinyurl link.

For anyone thinking that cassie purposely created a unique link so that the tinyurl would infact generate GJ/LJ, consider this:

She used www.imageshack.us for the picture, which is the host of the original masked link. The reason she could not have purposely created a unique link to generate GL/JL is because no matter what filename you upload to this image hosting site, it will add 2-4 random letters and numbers to the end of the filename in an attempt to avoid creating duplicate links. If you noticed the link, it has img66 at the beginning, imageshack has about 100 different servers, so trying to purposely create a link to generate GJLJ is practicly impossible, as each server number would offer a different generation of a tinyurl.

I would suggest a common sense rule that articles must be presented within the context of the LG15 video series. For example, an article on William Gibson's "Pattern Recognition" and the similarities between this and LG15, would be good. An article on Cyberpunk literature, would not. A link from "Pattern Recognition" to information on Cyberpunk in Wikipedia or another site would be appropriate. An article on Howard Feynman as he pertains to Lonelygirl15 would be appropriate. An in-depth article on Feynman's work with the Manhattan project would be too much. I think this is an adequate rule. Daniel refuses to answer the question and eventually tells Bree that her father said she smells like cheese.

When Daniel refused, her father said that maybe Daniel should not be coming around anymore. Bree became mad at Daniel for posting this information on YouTube rather than telling her and they get in a big fight. Daniel later calms down and decides to attend Bree's play, even though he still refuses to film it.

If you see any [[LGpedia:Policy#Vandalism|vandalism]] on the [[LGpedia]], we'd really appreciate your assistance in getting rid of it - you don't need to wait for an administrator to fix it. Follow this simple procedure to revert vandalism quickly:

#Click on the "History" tab at the top of the article.
#Click on the '''time and date''' of the last good version of the article.
#Click on the "Edit" tab at the top of the page.
#You'll get a warning saying you are editing an out-of-date version. This is what you're supposed to see.
#Enter a brief reason for the revert in the edit summary at the bottom of the page, such as "rv vandalism".
#Click "Save page".

That will get rid of the vandalism.

If you like, you can also warn the user who vandalised the article by following the following procedure:
