*Kate's memory lapse could be a result of DID- Dissociative Identity Disorder, formally known as Multiple Personality Disorder, in which individuals experience lapses in time.  Also there is a very seemingly strong tie to Cult Ritual Abuse which is a common event described by individuals with DID.  This may account for Kate  [[A Friendly Lie|changing her name]].
