Claire claimed to be a former Ceremony girl and reached out to Emma in a LaRezisto video, offering to teach Emma how to hone her powers and properly use them. She urges Jonas to allow Emma to come stay with her so that together, the two of them can fight the Order. Jonas immediately complies, taking Emma to Claire's secret location in the woods. After a few days of intensive training, Claire requests that she take Emma deeper into the woods, and that Jonas distract a Watcher that's been following them. Jonas agrees, and Claire leaves with an apprehensive Emma.

When the Watcher catches up to Jonas, he calls Claire a LaRezisto Shadow. He explains that LaRezisto is actually a rogue Elder who greedily captures trait positive girls to extend his life, and that Claire is his Shadow.

Claire has since been seen in an undisclosed location with Emma, asking her to make videos which "prove" Claire's good intentions.

Claire was shot dead by Virgil in What Happened (Oct. 26, 2007), as Daniel, Jonas, and Sarah were attempting to rescue Emma.

Etymology

Claire is the modern French form of Clare, the medieval French and English form of the Latin name Clara, feminine form of Clarus, a Latin name which means "Bright," or "Illustrious," or "Clear."
