In I Talked To My Parents Bree mentions the deacons of her religion for the first time. It is unclear how they are related to The Elders of her Bree's religion.

According to Wikipedia a deacon is a role in the Christian Church which is generally associated with service of some kind. Although the term is used in Christianity, it is not an exclusively Christian term. Wikipedia state that: "In Scots language, the title deacon is used for a head-workman, a master or chairman of a trade guild, or one who is adept, expert and proficient. The term deaconry refers to the office of a deacon or the trade guild under a deacon." Some of the ritual traditions of the guilds were conserved in order organizations such as the Freemasons and Aleister Crowley is know to have been influenced by Freemasonry.

There is an ecclesiastical arm of the Ordo Templi Orientis (OTO) an international fraternal initiatory organization devoted to promulgating the Law of Thelema, called the Ecclesia Gnostica Catholica (EGC)

The chief function of EGC is the public and private performance of the Gnostic Mass (Liber XV), a eucharistic ritual written by Crowley in 1913.

The first ordination in E.G.C. is that of the Diaconate. Second Degree initiates of O.T.O. who have been confirmed in E.G.C. can be ordained as Deacons, whose principal duties are to assist the Priesthood.

There is likely to be a connection between "The Deacons" and "The Elders" but the story line has not yet clarified that issue.

It was previously thought that a dark figure seen in some of the latest videos was a deacon. In Exploring The Motel, a man in a black suit is briefly on camera walking by the pool. Gemma's reply Someone's Following You has confirmed that this character might be significant. In Breakfast In Bed, fans also noticed the appearance of another (perhaps the same) man in a suit who was standing in the cereal aisle of the grocery store. He is not recognizable in any of the videos. In a video appropriately titled A Watcher Gemma points out that this man has a tell tale sign on his hand that indicates he is actually a Watcher. In Man In The Suit, Bree had previously shrugged off the possibility that she and Daniel were being followed.

In On The Run, a Deacon is seen escorting Bree's parents from their house. Bree identifies him as one of the Deacons from The Ceremony.

The Deacons also post information regarding the Grigori AKA Watchers and seem to be playing both sides they seem like they could be protecting thier asset (Bree) or possibly working with the Grigori (Watchers). Nothing is known quite yet.
