Transcript

(Julia and Charlie are outside, looking for Patricia.)

Julia: (Sighs.) Shouldn't we just ignore her?

Charlie: Look, we need to fight fire with fire. Come on.

Julia: Well, let's just try asking her nicely to leave us alone.

Charlie: Look, only if this plan doesn't work. Look, I want my normal life back, and if that means we have to intrude on her's, well, then that's fine by me.

(Julia and Charlie walk to the Filmhouse, looking for Patricia.)

Julia: Babe, are you sure this is the right place? Maybe they've gone home.

Charlie: Are you ready?

Julia: Yeah. (Grabs the camera from Charlie.) Where are they?

Charlie: (Spots Patricia and runs over.) It's them! Patricia! Oi! Patricia! 'Scuse me, can I get a comment off you, Patricia, about what it's like to be on the receiving end of a doorstepping?

Patricia: Well, um... (Smiles and looks around nervously.)

Charlie: And what about Mrs. Cameraman? Does she know about the affair you're having with Mr. Cameraman?

(Patricia and Dave start laughing.)

Patricia: Mrs. Cameraman? I hate to disappoint, but Dave and I are both gay.

Julia: Oh!

Patricia: I'm really glad you came to see us, actually, Charlie, we were just about to call you.

Charlie: I told you not to.

Patricia: Yeah, well, we had a major breakthrough; it's important. We've managed to find the man claiming to be Dr. William Griffin.

Charlie: Who?

Patricia: Kate's detruded specialist? Dr. Weirdo?

Charlie: That's not ringing any bells.

Patricia: Well, he's alive. And he's needing to speak to you.

Charlie: Back off and leave us alone. This is our lives, this isn't just another disposable story!

Patricia: What is your objection to our documentary? I mean, you've practically posted everything - every detail of your life - all over the internet. (Gestures at Julia.) I mean, she's filming right now, for heaven's sakes. Look, let me into your world with our lens, and help make sense of everything that's happened to you.

Charlie: I don't want to be on TV, and I don't think I trust you that much, either!

(Charlie begins walking away.)

Patricia: What about Kate, Charlie?

Charlie: What about her?

Patricia: If the Order were real, and she's in danger, then maybe your cooperation with my documentary will- will help bring awareness of her plight.

Charlie: Look, I don't want to be on TV, and if I do see myself on it, I'm gonna sue. Leave me alone.

Patricia: All your videos do is ask questions, Charlie. Questions! Our documentary will find the answers. (Charlie begins to walk away again.) Answers, Charlie; I know how bad you want them! Think about it!

(Julia continues to walk away, while Charlie stops. She looks back at Patricia and Dave, who begin to follow.)

Julia: Charlie, what are you doing? Charlie, come on, let's go!

(Patricia and Dave catch up with Charlie.)

Charlie: (Sighs.) Look, Dr. Griffin's a lot more dangerous than he looks.

Julia: Charlie, what are you doing?

Patricia: When they abducted Kate, all of your lives changed. Look, he gave up his life in the name of fighting the Order. Don't you want to find out why?

(Charlie's phone rings.)

Charlie: (Answering the phone.) Hey, Gav. Yeah, five tins of black paint? Where am I gonna get that at this time of night? (Julia zooms in on Patricia talking into the camera.) Gav, they don't sell paint at petrol stations! What do you need five tins of black paint for, anyway? Gav? (Charlie gets off the phone and sighs.) What the hell?

Patricia: Well?

Charlie: Well, you- You promise we're gonna be safe?

Patricia: I guarantee it.

Charlie: And you'll give us... a copy of all the footage you get?

Patricia: If that's what it takes, yes.

Charlie: (Sighs.) Look, I'll meet him. At the first sign of weirdness, I'm out of there; the documentary's off.

Julia: Charlie! What are you doing?

Patricia: You're doing the right thing, Charlie.

Charlie: (Sighs.) Look, I just want my normal life back. She's right; I just need answers. It's- it's hard to put something behind you that you just don't understand.

Julia: A normal life, eh?

Charlie: (Sighs.) Look, I'm gonna need that. (Takes the camera from Julia.)
