The Lonelygirl15 Forums located at lonelygirl15.com/forum are generally considered the main hub of activity for lonelygirl15 fans.
The forums have gone through three generations of existence. The earliest incarnation, which existed from July 16 through September 6, 2006, varied greatly from the current version and is discussed at the phorum entry. The second version, from September 6, 2006 through July 22, 2007 was a more advanced phpBB software-supported forum. On July 22, 2007, the forums were upgraded to the newest version of phpBB in connection with a major site upgrade and integration with KateModern at lg15.com.
The forums are divided into 8 main sections:
- Admin Announcements — The forum moderators and the Creators make announcements about the forums and all lonelygirl15 here. [1]
- Welcome to Lonelygirl15 — A place for new viewers to get started.
- Mysteries in the Plot — For discussion of the plot and the lonelygirl15 videos.[2]
- Character Discussion — To discuss Bree, Daniel, Jonas, and all the rest.[3]
- Everyone's a Character (in character interaction) — This board of the forum is reserved for "in character" discussion. In this board, fans must pretend that the Breeniverse is real, and can make no reference to things outside the Breeniverse. Bree, Daniel and other Breeniverse characters occasionally post messages in this board.[4]
- General Discussion — For suggestions, concerns and complaints and other behind the scenes discussion.[5]
- The LG15 Community — For general community interaction and non-lg15 related discussion.
- LG15 Fan Creations — For discussion of the many unofficial spinoffs.[6]
- The Back of Bree's Closet — For old threads and resting place for now -deceased OpAphid ARG.
The forums are administered by Miles Beckett and Broken Kid. There is also a team of moderators.
PHPbb-powered forums were launched on Sept. 6, 2006. Prior to the current version, the message boards were powered by the Phorum software package. The original forums were called the phorum, and many of the fans who posted on the phorum still use that term.
Although the forum is often considered the hub of fan activity, as of January 2007, around 3,500 fans were registered at the forums, compared to over 75,000 people who subscribe to lonelygirl15 videos on YouTube. Only a small minority of lonelygirl15 fans are even registered at the forums.
