Transcript

(Sarah is wearing goggles and organizing tools and supplies to make a bird house.)

Sarah: So, I watched the video last night. And I watched it on the web just like everyone else despite the fact that, you know, I live under the same roof as these guys and I'm taking the same risks and I'm fighting the Order just like them. You know, then... the dynamic duo head off to save Gotham by themselves and they don't even tell me. Suddenly I'm Alfred! The last thing I heard you know - Jonas didn't want anything to do with Sonia and Daniel didn't trust her. And there they are pulling out guns and saving babies without me. Which brings me to my third reason. Focus! Purpose! I've come to the conclusion that Daniel and Jonas are totally sexist. I mean, they obviously don't think that a woman can handle her self in the heat of battle or they would have brought me along for the big rescue mission. I'm going to show them I can do anything the boys can do. While they just keep talking about building a birdhouse, I'll actually build one. (painting the birdhouse) I'm taking a little break. (eating an apple) Jonas and Daniel are inside trying to crack Emma's message or code or whatever. You know, Jonas finally convinced Daniel that there's something there but... I don't know. Would Claire really screw up like that? Let Emma send a message out? I don't know. That chick's pretty smart. Kinda makes me wonder about the Hymn of One, you know? I mean, beside the sacrificial virgin thing, they seem to produce some hard core, kick ass chicks. I don't know, it's just kinda nice to see girls doing what girls can do. Back to work. I'm gonna finish this stupid bird house if it's the last thing I do. But you know what? I'm gonna do something more than that. Maybe there is a code, okay? But (laughs) how many Order fighters does it take to screw in a light bulb? There has to be another clue out there. There has to be another way to get to Emma. I don't know. No matter what the guys think of me, I have focus. And I have purpose. And while they're sitting inside talking about what to do, trying to figure out what to do, I'm gonna be taking action. I'm gonna find Emma.

Notes

  • Sarah's rant brings up many feminist themes. She says that she is just as capable as the boys and observes that although The Order tends to sacrifice virgins, they also have some kick ass chicks like Claire and Lucy.
  • Sarah seems to have completely abandoned the all-black clothing scheme that once defined her character.
  • The "Alfred" that Sarah mentions is Bruce Wayne's butler in the Batman comic book series. Alfred also looked after Bruce when his parents were killed.
  • Sarah's video was film out of order. This is most noticeable in the scene where she "un-paints" and then repaints the Batman symbol. At 1:00 when she is says, "Kinda makes me wonder about the HoO..." the Batman symbol has already been spray painted out. It is unclear whether this is an intentional or unintentional break in continuity by the Creators.
  • Some fans have speculated about the meaning (if any) of the symbols Sarah paints unto the birdhouse and subsequently paints them out. And with their relationship to the possible "clues" left by Sarah for the boys in Nice Try.
