Template:Blog3 Don't Trust The Authorities is the seventy-second video in the Lonelygirl15 video series. Gemma tells Bree and Daniel to remain in hiding and they will be fine.

Transcript

Gemma: I'm glad you went with your instincts on this, Bree. You were right not to trust the authorities. They may not be who they seem. The best thing for now would be to stay put and soak in the pool. You know watching, um, Thor, Owen and P. Monkey kind of reminded me of my favorite Olympic game: The plunge for distance! It was featured in the 1904 Olympics. It requires participants to dive into the pool, remain rigid, and float as far as they could. And they could not draw a single breath. (Gemma takes a deep breath, puffs out her cheeks, checks her watch, and then pretends to pass out.) I have this visual in my head of these logs just bobbing about like bumper cars. Regrettably, the sport was discontinued the next time around. It's a real loss. I think Owen and Thor would be quite good at it; I'm not sure about P. Monkey, though. He's kind of a wanker. Anyway, keep doing what you're doing, and you'll be fine. Oh, don't tell P. Monkey what I said about him, he looks like a fragile little geezer. Take care!

Notes

  • The plunge for distance actually exists just as Gemma described. [1]
  • The British/Australian slang term "wanker" caused a minor uproar among some fans who felt the use of the word was extremely inappropriate.
  • The LonesomeOctober spinoff posted a video called Wanker?!? in which P. Monkey angrily demands that Gemma apologize. Gemma failed to do so in her next video, so P. Monkey released another video, titled It's On, Gemma!, in which he reports her to a watch group for disabled Americans. He explains that he was born without legs and took offense to Gemma's remarks about him not performing well in swimming competitions.
