How Could You? is the two-hundred ninety-seventh video in the lonelygirl15 video series. It is also the forty-first video of season two.

Transcript

(Sarah is inside the house, her face takes up the camera.)

Sarah: So, I'm a little bit agitated because somebody is not saying ANYTHING!

(Camera shifts to Daniel. He walks toward Sarah and the camera.)

Daniel: Well, what do you want me to say?

Sarah: I dunno. Say something.

Daniel: Okay, fine. We just got back home, and Jonas is gone. And he took Emma with him. After seeing that last LaRezisto video, he decided that he would give her to them. Yeah, well, this just in Jonas: LaRezisto doesn't equal the resistance.

Sarah: Yeah, and this just in - Daniel equals very angry.

(Scene changes and now Sarah is alone on the couch.)

Sarah: Jonas, if you're out there watching this right now - Bad move. Okay? I mean, you don't even know what these people want to do to your little sister. Look, and I know you trust the resistance, okay, because your parents were part of it and yadda, yadda, yadda. But we don't even know that LaRezisto are the same people. And after everything Emma's been through? She needs rest. She doesn't need to be dragged halfway around the world to some "secret base" to do whatever. I mean... what are you thinking? You're not. Or... you're thinking of yourself.

(Rumbling and shuffling off camera is heard. A door slams. Mallory is off screen.)

Mallory: (Off-camera) Hi.

Sarah: Don't you ever knock? Ugh.

(Mallory walks up the stairs. Cuts to Daniel is sitting outside in a white lawn chair.)

Daniel: Look, Jonas, I'm sorry that things aren't really clear with Emma right now. I know that she's scared and confused, but so are you, man. I mean, the shit that we saw last week was... well, I dunno what it was. It wasn't super powers. I mean, that's just BS put into your head by your friends online and LaRezisto. And you only want it to be true, 'cause if it's true, then we finally have a weapon to fight the Order. Well, I've seen everything you've seen, man. And I promise you - it's not true. Just bring her back home and we'll fight the Order. On our own. No super powers. I know, man, I know you think you're doing the right thing for Emma and Bree and all the other girls, but - you know, if I knew where you were right now, I would... I'd jump on a plane and bring you back. If I didn't - that's what I need you to do, man. Just jump on a plane, turn back around, and bring her home. Do that for me, okay? Please.

Notes

  • This is the first time the exact title of a video has ever been repeated. How Could You? Version one was posted one year and one day before Version two (on September 23, 2006), and featured Daniel bemoaning the fact that Bree was going to blow off a date with Daniel to attend a religious ceremony. Things have gotten a bit more serious for Daniel between the two How Could Yous.
  • Daniel and Sarah may have jumped to conclusions about where Jonas and Emma have gone; they make no mention of Jonas leaving a note explaining himself, or of any other way that they might know for sure what has happened.
