Transcript

(Jonas and Alex are seen on a beach in the distance talking to each other and Jonas is narrating.)

Jonas: Ok, So I just had a little, um, heart to heart (Switches to Jonas alone) with my aunt out on the beach. I know, I know what you're thinking, you're not supposed to trust the uh...

(Switches to shot of Jonas and Alex on the beach and Jonas has his hand out, possibly yelling at Alex)

Jonas: (narrating) the bad guys. She's a bad guy, you're not supposed to trust her.

(Switches back to Jonas alone)

Jonas: But, you know it was either that or, (scoffs) well, you know Bree's preferred methods. All right, the thing is, is that Alex is my dad's little sister. Well, yeah technically half-sister but whatever and it all started when my grandfather got divorced and married this much, much younger woman. Alex's mom was, how do I, how do I phrase this delicately, umm... a total whack job. Can I say that? Is that mean? But she was. And she was one of these new-aged fruity types, and I remember she was always talking about (Puts on an accent) "Jonas, the free, free will of man and meridian lines". (Drops accent) Meridian lines? That's like geography, I get that, but I don't know what it has to do with the human soul. Anyway my dad said, and thought that she was full of, how do you say it in Spanish? Caca? When in Mexico... So Alex and my dad, they became actually

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach again. It appears Alex is trying to tell Jonas something but he raises his arms then bounces on the ground suggesting he can't believe what she's saying)

Jonas: (narrating) pretty close because until she came around my dad never had a sister. She was just at our house constantly, I mean she did everything with us

(Switches back to Jonas alone)

Jonas: just like part of the family. She would go sailing with us. I mean, everything, you name it, she was there. I think it caused a little conflict

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach again. Alex has her hands in her pockets and Jonas has his arms crossed. He unfolded his arms and points his fingers at Alex accusingly before starting to walk away)

Jonas: (narrating) with Alex's mom, 'cause she was, she was the jealous type and I mean it even, it got to the point

(Switches to Jonas alone)

Jonas: where she wasn't even allowed to come over our house anymore. So when my parents started traveling a lot, umm... we didn't really see Alex that much anymore, you know, just holidays and Christmas. And I remember one Christmas, Alex's mom had had a little too much

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach. Jonas is walking away, kicking sand as he walks and Alex is following. He stops and turns to face Alex)

Jonas: (narrating) to drink and... her and my dad kinda got into it.

(Switches to Jonas alone)

Jonas: They started arguing and they said a bunch of things

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach. Jonas is walking toward Alex appearing to be yelling at her.)

Jonas: (narrating) to each other. A lot of weird stuff. Alex's mom started accusing my dad of just some whacked-out, crazy stuff.

(Switches to Jonas alone)

Jonas: They were arguing about something about her religion. She was always very fanatical. It got heated

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach. Jonas exclaiming towards the sky with his hands)

Jonas: (narrating) and they both said some pretty awful things to each other. (Alex is walking away from Jonas with her arms crossed whilst yelling something) I'm sure they would have apologized to each other cause that's what families do: they fight (Jonas and Alex both have arms crossed and are exchanging heated words) and they make up, but

(Switches to Jonas alone)

Jonas: um... unfortunately they never got that chance... 'cause later that Feburary, uh, Alex's mom got hit by a drunk driver

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach. Jonas is listening to Alex, both still have their arms crossed)

Jonas: (narrating) and, uh, she died en route to the hospital.

(Switches to Jonas alone)

Jonas: Yep, your classic "How could there be a god when something like this happens" moment. There's more to this story. During my reconciliation with Alex out on the beach she gave me a little more information. Her mom's religion? Same as Bree's mom's religion. Same thing. And after the car accident, the Order contacted Alex and they used, they used her basically, they took advantage of her grief, and convinced her that my dad had something to do with her mom's death. So Alex said that the Order would help her out once in a while. They kinda hooked her up with job in the fashion line, promotions, the whole deal. I guess when they found out that we were going her way, (makes phone gesture with his hand) they called in some favors. They told her exactly what to say in that little speech she gave. I don't even think she knew what she was doing. She was just doing what they told her.

(Switches to shot of Alex and Jonas on the beach. Alex is looking to the distance and Jonas is standing beside her)

Jonas: (narrating) She's pretty broken up. I mean she was visibly distraught (Jonas playfully bumps into Alex's shoulder) and I don't think you can pretend. Are my parents still alive? I hope so. Alex thinks they are (Alex hugs Jonas) She feels so bad about what happened that she said that she will do anything she can to help us find out.

Notes

  • "Hug It Out" is another possible pop-culture reference brought in to the Breeniverse. It is from the television show "Entourage" and the direct quote is "Lets hug it out, bitch." This title may also be from the popular song, "Walk it out."
  • This episode illustrates some of the similarities between Bree and Alex, such as their mothers' religion and its influence on their daughters.
  • Some people have speculated on whether or not Alex has gone through the Ceremony.
