Transcript

(Steve is on the corner of Shaftesbury Avenue and Great Windmill Street in Westminster. He pans the camera wildly, tying to show his location as he walks. Eventually he turns the camera back toward himself.)

Steve: Hi. It's me; Steve. I've watched Kate's last upload over and over again, and I've finally figured out which internet café she was in. Um... There wasn't actually much on the video itself, so I'm going to go to the internet café and ask if they've got any CCTV footage from the day itself. I just hope they give it to me. Actually, I better turn this off before I go in.

(Steve turns off the camera. Cut to a shot of the café's sign, which reads "Global Net Internet Cafe". Cut to an outside view of the café.)

Steve: After much negotiations, I have the surveillance tape from the date that Kate was here! Stage one, complete! Now I'm gonna go and watch it. I don't know what I expect to find, but we'll soon see, won't we?

(Steve turns the camera and begins walking down the street. Cut to a shot of a vacuum cleaner. Steve turns the camera toward himself, as he sits in a stairwell.)

Steve: I just watched the tape. (Sighs.) I don't want to jump to any rash conclusions, but...

(Cut to the surveillance footage. Kate can be seen sitting at a computer. Shortly thereafter, Patricia enters and walks over to her. Kate turns around and the two leave together. Cut to Steve walking outside.)

Steve: Patricia Neilson was the last person to see Kate alive. Well, as far as we know. Now, I said I don't want to make any rash judgements here, but I really, really need to speak to Patricia. That is Patricia... right? What do you think?

Notes

  • The surveillance footage is from December 29, 2007 at 12:16 AM. This indicates that Kate stuck around at the café for nearly 40 minutes following the upload of her video.
  • The entire visible part of the café sign says:

Global Net Internet Cafe
* Pc & Laptops * Repairs & Upgrades
* Photo - Copying, Faxing * Scanning, Accessories

* VOIP Phone Calls * International calling Cards
  • Signs visible in the window include Western Union flyers, a Soho Care Service, "Cheap International CALLS", signs for Payzone Top-Up, and an "Open" sign
