Peter James (also credited as James Symington) is the actor who played the role of Raymond Wharton in the lonelygirl15 series.
An aspiring actor in high school and university, James had to put those dreams on hold after becoming a police officer, for the "macho" police culture did not support any artistic activities such as acting. While in the police academy, he developed great physical skills, such as precision driving, firearms, and SWAT that allowed him to transition into doing stunts on feature films, such as Making Love in St. Pierre, Shipping News, and Wise Girls. Soon, he was able to transition into being a stunt actor, and finally an actor. He had a lead role in the movie Afterthoughts and had a co-starring role on the ABC daytime drama "General Hospital."
James did search and rescue work at Ground Zero with his police dog, and at times, worked as a dog trainer and animal rights activist. Shortly after September 11th, 2001, he began to view life from a new perspective. He packed up all his worldly possessions and drove across America to pursue his dreams of acting. He settled in Los Angeles in 2004.
Prior to joining the LG15 cast, James had heard of the hype surrounding the show when the story broke in the LA Times. However, he was not a viewer. He saw a casting notice for Jonas's father in August 2007 and submitted a headshot and resume for consideration. He had a great audition and loved the producers. The next day, he received a phone call from Greg Goodfried booking the job.
James is inspired by integrity, and aspires to maintain his integrity at all costs. If he weren't an actor, James says he would like to be a producer.
In early 2008, James acted in Marcello Daciano's short film, Laura. The film screened for the first time on Tuesday, February 26th, 2008 and has been submitted to the Cannes Film Festival.
