Transcript

(The car is approaching Aunt Joan's house. Gavin turns into the driveway.)

Steve: Is this it?

Gavin: Yeah. Shh-shh-shh-shh...

(Gavin turns off the headlights as they pull up to the house.)

Steve: There's a light...

Gavin: Shh-shh-shh. (They all unbuckle from the car and get out.) Okay. Let's go.

Steve: Shh! Don't slam the door!

(Gavin approaches the front door to unlock it while Steve looks in a window.)

Steve: There's no one down there.

(Gavin opens the door slightly and looks back at everyone else. He motions for everyone to be quiet and they enter the house.)

Lauren: Is it just me or is there a funny smell in here?

(Gavin nods and Steve heads down the main hall.)

Gavin: (Whispering.) Go down here. Lee, come with me.

(Lee follows Gavin slowly upstairs. Gavin looks around nervously at the top of the stairs and begins searching each room. He opens the door at the end of the hallway to find a light on inside.)

Gavin: Shit! (Gavin runs inside and Charlie yells, bound and gagged on the floor.) Shh! Shh! (Gavin goes to Aunt Joan, who is tied to a chair.) You okay, Auntie Joan? (Charlie yells at Gavin.) You okay? Shh, Charlie! We'll get you out of this. (Unties Aunt Joan.) Shh- Stay still, stay still, stay still!

(Cut to Charlie's bound hands as Gavin pulls the tape from Aunt Joan's mouth.)

Gavin: Okay, okay, okay.

(Aunt Joan and Charlie groan and Gavin shushes Charlie. Lee exits the room and looks down the stairs.)

Steve: Oi! (Steve is looking out of the front door.) It's him!

(Lee descends the stairs to meet Lauren at the bottom. He comes up behind Steve to find Terrence standing in front of the house.)

Steve: What do you think you're doing?

Terrence: Ah, ah, ah! That's far enough, Steven. One more step and this whole goes up. (Flicks a lighter.)

Lee: (Whispers.) Oh my god! (Pans to show Terrence holding an emptied petrol can.) What's he gonna do?

Steve: It's okay. It's okay, Lee, stay calm. It's not gonna happen like this, Terrence.

Terrence: See, that's where you're wrong, Steven. This is exactly how it's gonna happen. Nothing can stop me now. (Cut to a shot of the lighter. Shadowy figures can be seen moving in the background.) I'm invincible, Steven, you hear me?

(The figures come closer to be identified as Michelle Clore's Shadow and Kate's Watcher.)

Lee: (Whispering.) Oh my god, oh my god, oh my god! (Steve looks at Lee to shut up.)

Terrence: Oh! Where you going, boy? (Terrence notices the Shadow and Watcher.) Oh, shit!

(Terrence elbows Kate's Watcher in the face. The Shadow takes out a gun and Lee and Steve run inside.)

Steve: Get in, get in! Get down!

Lee and Steve: Get down!

(Gavin is shown descending the stairs and falling on his back. Cut to Lauren huddled in the living room. Gavin picks himself up as more gun shots are heard, followed by the sound of squealing tires.)

Gavin: What was that? What was it?

Steve: It's the Watcher. It went for Terrence. (Lauren and Gavin look confusedly at the camera.) Shit!

Lee: Stay! Stay down, stay down!

Steve: Okay. Shh... (Stands up slowly to look out of the window next to the door. Gavin lifts himself up to look behind Steve.) He's gone. (Stands up.) He's gone.

(Steve opens the front door and looks outside.)

Gavin: Don't g- Don't go too far.

(Steve closes the door and tries to lock it. He fumbles with the lock and Gavin helps him.)

Steve: I think they've dealt with Terrence.

Aunt Joan: Gavin. Gavin?

(Lee pans to the stairs to find Aunt Joan descending the stairs, followed by Charlie.)

Gavin: Are you okay? He didn't hurt you, did he?

Aunt Joan: No, I'm alright.

Gavin: Come on. (Pulls Aunt Joan away from the stairs.) You sure he didn't do anything? You sure?

Charlie: Hey.

Steve: Hey. (Steve and Charlie hug.) It's over, Charlie. It's finally over.

Aunt Joan: Charlie? So you're the Charlie my Gavin's always talking about.

Charlie: Hi.

Gavin: Um, i-it's not like that, auntie; not anymore. (Looks at Steve and Charlie.)

Aunt Joan: But you said...

Gavin: Yeah, I-I know. But I was wrong.

Lauren: Yeah, I'm fine, by the way.

(Lee turns the camera to Lauren. She sighs and crosses her arms and Lee pans back to Gavin.)

Gavin: Right. (Looks out of the window next to the front door.) Alright, they're definitely gone. I think it's about time you lot left, don't you?

Charlie: Aren't you coming?

Gavin: No. I'm gonna stay here for a while.

Charlie: Well, we're gonna see you soon, then, right?

Gavin: I don't know. I'm gonna go to Manchester for a bit, I think.

Charlie: Look, Gav, don't be like that...

Gavin: Look, just... don't. Go on. Get out. All of you.

Lauren: Well, see you, then.

Gavin: Yeah.

(Gavin glares as they leave.)

Steve: Bye.

Gavin: Yeah.

Lee: (Leaving.) See ya, Gav, mate.

Charlie: Well, I'll call you soon, then, right?

Gavin: No, don't bother. (Closes the door in Charlie's face.)

Steve: Looks like the coast's clear.

Lauren: Yeah, come on, let's get out of here.

(Charlie sighs and walks to her car looking depressed, followed by Lauren and Lee. She stops and turns to look at Steve.)

Charlie: Are you coming?

Steve: No.

Charlie: Steve, please, they could come back any second.

Steve: Do you know, Charlie, I- I came to a realization today. My whole life has been folly. But not any more. (Smiles.) I've found my true calling now. I've got to go. I've got to find my own path. I'm sorry.

(Steve kisses Charlie on the cheek.)

Charlie: I don't understand!

Steve: (Puts his hand on her cheek.) Goodbye, Charlie.

(Steve walks past them toward the street'.)

Charlie: Steve?

(Steve stops at the end of the driveway.)

Steve: Bye, Lauren. (Smiles and bows.) Take care, Lee.

(Steve walks to the sidewalk, looks around happily, and walks out of sight. Charlie begins to cry and falls to her knees.)

Lauren: (Tries to console Charlie.) Hey, it's okay. (Hugs Charlie.)

Lee: Oh, it's okay, Charlie. (Rubs her back.) Everything's gonna be fine.

(Charlie sobs on Lauren's shoulder.)
