Nice job OwenIsCool. I'd add that a commenter said that roses do not wilt in that manner. So, Gemma must have purposely caused it to droop for the video? I'm not an expert on horticulture, though. --Treefunk 18:25, 6 December 2006 (CST)

I'm not sure whether to put that comment back in because another commenter on the board refuted it, and I can't say I know from personal experience. So for now I think I just won't mention the drooping. I'm going to stick it here for now so I don't have to dig through the history later to find it.

Seemed like worth looking into, so I watched Breakfast In Bed again. Here are the flowers.

I thought they were white roses at first glance, but I looked at the boards and someone said they were gardenias and provided this link http://www.greenquest.com/images/plantes/gardenia.gif. The picture there is

Having seen that... I think they are indeed gardenias. Seems likely, since in the vid they look like Daniel picked them, not like he bought them. Gardenias would probably be more common than roses... What do you think?

im going to have to say that they are roses, and iceberg roses at that; they are WAY more common than gardenias. Gardenias typically have shot stems and are usually floated in a bowl of water, not placed in a vase as the flowers in the videos were. The flowers in the video have long, skinny stems and they appear to be iceberg roses that are just a little passed thier prime

wilted?

the rose doesn't actually look wilted to me. i think people simply assumed it was because it was bent. that means it could easily have been bent a) accidentally or b) on purpose in order to get it into the shot, but not to "draw attention to its sad state" as it isn't in a sad state. i mean look at it, it seems to still have all of its petals.--Skeeta 00:33, 8 December 2006 (CST)

The rose looks very dried up to me, not to mention dark, especially at the edges of the petals. It looks shriveled, even though it is still in bud form. I agree, if it had bloomed I would have expected its petals to fall, but since it's still in a bud, they don't tend to come off individually like that. I also agree with your edit that it wasn't necessarily bent intentionally, it could have just been treated carelessly. I don't agree that they would bend it to get it in the shot; why not just cut the stem so it fits on screen? Perhaps wilted was not the right word to use... maybe "dried" rose would have been better? The consensus on the boards seems to be that it is indeed in a sad state. I didn't make up any of these interpretations, I got them all from what seemed to be the popular theories on the board.
