:Valid point, however it might be a good thing to keep the screencaps. The reason that i have used screen captures is because text is just too easy to modify.  Yes, I could modifty the screen capture but that would take more work and show up under forensic analysis.  I also provide a link to the original source material so that allows users to copy the actual text if they want to do their own research.  I believe this is the most accurate way to document that this was information taken directly from the chat and not some fake or modified text that was added to the LGpedia.--modelmotion 12:45, 22 November 2006 (CST)

According to Wikipedia, Grigori "are a group of fallen angels told of in Biblical apocrypha who mated with mortal women, giving rise to a race of giants known as the Nephilim. Also known as "Watchers" (from Greek egrḗgoroi), the Grigori appear in the booksEnoch and Jubilees". Book of Enoch is an Angelic teaching which also equals the storyline.

The Deacons are fanfiction, but I find it irritating how much credit people give them on the comments boards.  Some genuinely think they are canon.  Their own breed of fanfiction is, well, original, and this poster is very prolific.  However, the article is pathetically out-of-date since it tries to include all their comments.  Perhaps rather than deleting it needs to be rewritten as a fanfiction piece, without giving such great emphasis on the speculation that they are canon.  Now if Bree went and said "Well Deacons, I've been reading your posts and..."  then of course we'd give them credit.  OwenIsCool 19:08, 16 January 2007 (CST)

Ok, now all the Deacons posts that we know of have a screencap and a link in this article.  I briefly considered leaving the screencaps out, mainly to save myself the trouble, but when I clicked the links JayHenry provided, they no longer worked!  I think this is a byproduct of the new comments board layout.  Basically if you click the link to the comment you get directed to the appropriate page, but not to the comment itself.  I don't know if/when this will be fixed, but I hope someone takes care of it soon.  We have other articles on LGpedia that link to comments (such as those left by Danielbeast), and it would be a shame if those didn't work anymore either.  In the meantime... if anyone doesn't like the screencaps... well that's why they're there.  And because doing them as text would have been a pain, what with the special characters and stuff.  OwenIsCool 14:08, 21 January 2007 (CST)

This page is an important part of  comments board history and should stay pretty much as it stands. It is actually a condensed version of many pages that once existed and the links were accumulated here.  It is therefore very well researched and a good representation of what happened.  The Deacons were very important because they played a vital role in the development of the comment board community and were responsible for a large amount of the social bonding that the Creators have openly talked about being important for Lonelygirl15.--modelmotion 07:03, 9 June 2008 (CDT)

Reconstruction

I'm making an effort to see if I can turn this page into something that might be useful to fans. The way it is now, it's better off deleted than here, but I think that as fanfic, it might have a place. In case anyone wants to help out, here is sort of the order in which I'd like to make improvements

 1. Look for their posts following Life's Not Fair and add links and (reasonably sized) screencaps to articles as well as links to the comments (so we don't have to go fishing for them again). We can decide later what screencaps to keep or toss.
 2. After each screencap, list the key terms from the post (e.g. Urim and Thummin, Grigori, etc.)
 3. Give a short definition of these terms and provide reference to wikipedia article or something of the sort. We will not expend too much space defining these terms or speculatively tying them in to justify them as canon.
 4. When we've gathered all the info, we'll write in additional commentary that might be useful.
 5. I'd like to have a section on "parodies" of the deacons on the comments board, because some of them are quite funny. But that's definitely not high priority.
