(Bree is sitting alone by a window.)

Bree: So, since Daniel and Jonas are not speaking to each other, I've been doing all the hard work by myself. Setting up trip lines and things like that. Bunch of cool stuff Tachyon taught me. Basically, Daniel doesn't like the fact that Jonas and I went hiking together, and Jonas doesn't like the fact that Daniel doesn't like the fact that we went hiking together. Anyway, I had some down time and I was trying to figure out why it's so hard for Daniel and Jonas to...just be friends, and deal with their feelings in a constructive way. So...I went online and I found this really interesting article. It's called the band-aid approach. Basically, when a problem arises, a man wants to deal with it as quickly as possible, whereas a woman wants to sort of talk it through and and look at it from every angle. The problem with the man's approach is...it tends to not really solve anything. You know, it's just like, they sweep the hard stuff under the table and it keeps coming up again. In light of recent developments, I've made a list of questions that I hope will bring out the boys' feelings. Now I've just gotta go ask them.

(Cut to Jonas reclining in a chair.)

Jonas: No way. I don't want to talk about this, right? I just want to watch this movie.

Bree: So, what bothers you most about Daniel?

Jonas: (rolls his eyes) Nothing.

Bree: Mmm hmm.

Jonas: Love him. Like a brother.

Bree: Hm?

Jonas: Mmm hmm. (points towards the TV)

(Cut to Daniel sitting on a bed reading "The Clue in the Diary" with earbuds in.)

Bree: Any luck there captain?

Daniel: Shhh! I'm trying to concentrate.

(Cut to Bree by the window alone.)

Bree: Tsk. (shakes head) Boys.

(Cut back to Daniel reading.)

Bree: Raybolt did it.

Daniel: (looks up and takes out earbuds) That's messed up, Bree.

Bree: I'm sorry. I didn't realize how in to it you were. Well, now you can help me with my interview. What annoys you most about Jonas?

Daniel: Everything. He's a piece of sh-

(Cut to Jonas on the sofa.)

Jonas: He didn't say that. Did he really say that?

Bree: Okay. Next question. What do you think is the one thing that you do that bothers Daniel?

Jonas: Going on hikes with you. (leans forward and pushes Bree aside)

(Cut back to Daniel on the bed, sitting up.)

Bree: What do you think you do that bothers Jonas the most?

Daniel: Breathing.

Bree: Ugh, Daniel!

Daniel: No seriously, if I wasn't around, he'd have you all to himself.

Bree: Oh my god! Why do you care that we were on a hike together?

(Cut to Jonas.)

Bree: Well, if you guys would just talk to each other then I wouldn't have to...

Jonas: (putting up his hands and talking over Bree) Look, Bree! I'm like--what are you? Are you Dr. Phil? I mean come on. Just... (waves his hands in a dismissive gesture) let it go.

(Cut to Bree.)

Bree: Do not become annoyed if the man tries to make a joke out of the situation. This is just a coping mechanism and it is not an effective form of communication.

(Cut to Daniel outside, setting down a tool that may be a snow shovel.)

Daniel: What are you talking about?! Just...who are you? Go away. (slams the door in Bree's face from the outside)

(Cut to Jonas inside.)

Jonas: No. I don't care, I don't care! Idon'tcareIdon'tcareIdon'tcare... I don't care. You can't come and I don't care. (Jonas slams the door in Bree's face from the inside)

(Cut to Bree.)

Bree: Well as you can see, that completely failed. I guess if they want to patch things up, they are going to have to do it themselves. As for me, I'm going for a walk... alone.

Notes

  • Jonas's refusal to communicate with Bree about his feelings regarding Daniel can be considered especially striking given his known penchant for armchair psychoanalysis.
  • When Bree says "alone", you can easily hear her New Zealand accent.
