I don't know who CiW was and I don't care (and yes I followed it) unless suddenly she is brought back and becomes canon. Otherwise, I am waiting to see where the writers are going with everything -- including this girl named Cassie who DOES exist (in some form). Like I said, otherwise they would never have brought her up in the swimming video and OpA would not have had her in a title of a video. That is how storytelling works. You never introduce an idea without a reason. |
The Creators more than likely had an intention for Cassie when they first introduced her, but after CiW essentially hijacked the character and gave LG15 a boost in fans all on its own (or stole them, depending on how you look at it), there's no way they could have lived up to the hype with their own Cassie. I think they just wrote her out at that point, and now that CiW is obviously not coming back, they decided to give the disappointed fans (like me) some closure on that. Unless she does turn out to be Bree's other persona, I doubt she'll be mentioned again.

"No reason"? If -- as most people have suspected -- it was to give us CiW fans some payoff on all our devotion and effort (though some certainly made more effort than others), then there was a whole lot of reason. And they have made her canon in "some way." Really, I don't see why you're saying otherwise, and I don't yet understand why you're so upset over the whole thing. Could you break it down and explain it?
To me it's like this: we either got nothing or we got canon. Well, we now have canon -- only it's not supernatural. It's some girl with a dark sense of humor and maybe a grudge against Bree. She thought she'd punk a lot of people who were watching Bree, and she pulled it off.
I couldn't be more happy with the whole thing, and I'd like to understand why it bothers you like it does. Maybe you have explained it previously and I just didn't understand at the time, but I really am confused by your reaction and would like to understand it.
To me it was obvious that there was no way in heck CiW taken at face value was going to be used. I didn't expect anything to ever be done with it, and I think it was a clever move by the Creators to do this -- not to mention a charitable one. This is really the only way CiW would attain any place in LG15 canon -- and the only way they could reclaim their own character of Cassie and tie up that loose end for that matter. They knew that at this point no Cassie but CiW's Cassie would be accepted -- but Cassie was still their character and they still needed to do something with that loose end.
Again, as you've been told by covedweller, if you want to blame anyone for getting ripped off on CiW, you've got to blame the creator of it. LG15's Creators lost their own character to that spin-off -- a spin-off which then proceeded to do nothing with her. Really, that fanfiction put the Creators in an uncomfortable position. They lost their own creation and were then given a loose end to wrap up -- but one which they knew they couldn't wrap up in a satisfactory manner because for many of us there is no Cassie but CiW's Cassie. They've made the best of the situation for all of us. |

When I search for Simian and Jared Diamond, I find loads of information on the Simian virus...and diseases people get mainly from domestic animals. I also find information on retrovirus' for aids.

I have as much right to my opinion that it was crap as you have to yours that it's not. I can't explain why I'm so upset about it any more than I have in any way that makes any more sense than your explanation about why you're NOT upset makes to me. I'm not the only one upset, but I'm the most vocal. But I've decided to take a wait-and-see attitude towards it. Until they mention Cassie again, I suggest we just agree to disagree, because your thoughts on the matter are as foreign to me as mine are to you.
And, as an FYI, I was more upset with a certain person's personal attacks than I was with the whole Cassie thing. To that person: attack the argument, not the person.
