Most people get to wade through life listening happily to their iPods via those little white earbuds that came in the package...but me? No, I can't. When most sit down at the computer, they are satisfied with whatever speakers came with their machine, but me? No, I am not.
See, I am what is called, an audiophile...no it is not like a pedophile...ok, mirage, kelly, agent get it out of your system...I like to touch music...there all better. Now, back to my rant:
When I want to listen to my iPod, I can't just pop in those sleek little white earbuds, no siree...I cringe when I hear the weak basses, and the dull trebles...it is actually physically painful for me. At my computer, I can't stand speakers...but what if you spent $500 on that exceptionally rated Logitech 7.1 system? Not good enough, bud.
For my iPod, I had to spend $99.99 on a pair of Shure E2c In-The-Ear headphones before I would stop carrying around my massive pair of $70 Sennheiser HD212 Pros which I use with my computer. That's right, I have a 2 gig iPod nano, which costs $199.99, and I spent nearly that much on headphones? Crazy? No, I am one of the few sane people out there!
How many of you can say you don't use "Bass Boost" on your CD players? I despise "Bass Boost" it distorts the quality of the music, and I won't stand for that.
Today, I call you all to go to your local electronics store and invest a good $70 on a good pair of headphones....oh, you like those ones that cancel noise? SCREW THAT! Good headphones do that naturally, hun, in fact, I love my new Shure E2c headphones because my mom can yell and scream right behind me, and I don't hear a word!!!! That's right! Not one single word! Now, I am not asking you to change your lives, but trust me, it will! WHO WILL BE THE FIRST TO JOIN THE AUDIOPHILE REVOLUTION! _________________ My plays: Random Incoherence

I dont even use the ipod headphones. I use the old black ones from my walkman (yes a tape deck walkman I have had since 4th grade...) on my Ipod.
I use my Ipod headphones at my computer.
And I dont believe in bass boost. What I listen to has enough OOPFH on its own ^_^
PS- This club is to expensive for me. -_- _________________ To all the:

Hahaha...yea I know...being an audiophile isn't cheap...hell I am more of a wannabe...else I would spend the $900 on the really nice headphones that they pour wax in your ear to make so they fit like gloves. _________________ My plays: Random Incoherence

I know some musicians who's families are a bit wealthy, so I've seen that done. The also block out outside noise, saving their eardrums when they play concerts...

Can you explain how good headphones are naturally noise cancelling? As far as I was aware there were only two types of noise cancellation, active and passive. Passive noise cancellation is just basically padding. You insulate your ears from outside noise. Active noise cancellation is the introduction of extra sound who's waves are in direct opposition to ambient noise. Is there another method I'm unaware of? |

good call...I was referring to closed or in-the-ear style headphones...both are passive they both block out noise simply through insulation. and to be more precise, active noise cancelling is the use of frequencies of noise which have peaks at the points the sound being cancelled has troughs and vice versa, this acts to completely annihilate the undesired sound. The method was most famously used in the Michelson-Morley experiment in the early 1900's, in which they attempted to prove that the universe was full of aether by showing an interference pattern with a split beam of light (the machine is now called an interferometer). ^^ but nice catch...I didn't want to go into the details
The reason I said most good headphones do it naturally is I don't particularly like open style headphones, even though they tend to be more comfortable for longer-wear. I just feel that you get a better bass and treble response with closed style headphones like the Sennheiser HD212 Pro.
Oh and in-the-ear style headphones like my Shure E2c headphones are naturally noise cancelling because they are basically earplugs with tiny speakers in them. _________________ My plays: Random Incoherence
