|
|
Hey everyone!
We just launched the first in an ongoing series of revisions to the website. It is now MUCH easier to navigate to the old videos. We switched from quicktime to Flash video so people should have less problems viewing the vids. A video summary and song credits are up.
The most exciting change is that you can now upload video comments using Revver. This is the first in a series of steps we will be taking to enable fans to create their own charaters and storylines.
When you upload your videos to Revver, they place an ad at the end. When people click on the ad you make money. Pretty cool, huh? This way we can all participate in the future of lonelygirl15.
Coming soon... character/user profiles, the ability to create and "admin" storylines with characters you and your friends create, the LGPedia (a wiki), and MUCH MUCH MORE!
Please give us your feedback in the "Suggestions" forum, we always want to hear how we can improve.
Enjoy, and thanks for being a fan. |

I'm really excited to see this. I was hoping what that bit in the previous announcement might mean. |

From the FAQ on the Revver website:
How does Revver work?
It's really simple: you upload a video to Revver, and we attach a brief, unobtrusive ad and our unique tracking technology to "Revverize" the video. Every time that ad gets clicked, we share the revenue with you 50/50. You can then track your video's performance through your Revver account - which tells you exactly how many times your video is watched, and how much money you're earning.
Since ads are attached to the video itself, there's no restriction on how your videos are distributed. The more people email your video, post it to other websites or download it from P2P networks, the more money you earn.
To increase the value of the entire Revver network, we also reward people for sharing videos. You can earn 20% of ad revenue for sharing videos by other Revver members. The remaining revenue is split 50/50 between the maker and Revver.
The Revver FAQ can be found at http://one.revver.com/revver/go/faq |

Hmm... Would they just be treated as fan fiction? Or would they have the opportunity to influence the actual LG15 show? It sounds incredibly interesting. _________________ The Last Love Song on This Little Planet.

I think they mean like AU fanfiction, which means we could see the boom, starting here, of video-based fanfiction in general (kinda neat, imo). I like the ideas guys! Keep up the awesome work! |

A Step backwards I'd say - more problems with flash then QT, lower quality - and hard to save the vid (maybe thats the real reason?)) |

I've already posted one of my own video replies. Higher in quality, I might add, than on YouTube. _________________ My LG15 Video Responses |

I think your video is the only one of quality up so far. Good job.
The other ones look like people just trying to get attention to their own works. boo.
Will the videos be moderated? _________________

Yes, we will be moderating... but we are very flexible.
Guidelines:
Relevant to Lonelygirl15 universe (this is pretty darn broad)
No profanity, no porn, etc.
No use of copyrighted material (Revver actually screens this out... not us).
Have fun making videos!!! |

Are we allowed to use excerpts of LG15 footage in our own work? Or will revver consider it copyrighted and not allow it? _________________ The Last Love Song on This Little Planet.

in the future we can all expect a new type of spam to get people to watch videos.
horrible spam
eta: from rev's site about using other peoples videos
Can someone change or use pieces of my video in a way I don't like?
Only with your permission. The Creative Commons license that applies to Revver videos doesn't allow others to edit your content, unless you approve it.
sooo, if you use lg15's stuff you better get permission |

It's going to suck if we run into problems with revver about using LG15 footage.
So the default creative commons license on revver is the Attribution-NonCommercial-NoDerivs 2.5. Is it possible to change the default for your videos on revver?
If the creators are reading this, would it be possible for you to put the LG15 videos on revver under the Attribution-NonCommercial-ShareAlike 2.5 creative commons license? Or something similar that allows us to use your footage in our fan videos?
I'm quite interested in making something based in the LG15 universe . Is there going to be any problem with using your footage, or should we not worry about it? _________________ The Last Love Song on This Little Planet.
