Thanks! You're on it! (and thank you too Kasdeja for pointing it out)
So what I understand from this is that CIW is dead fanfic, but the character Cassie is very much canon.
What I don't get is why people wig out every time her name is mentioned? Even though CIW is dead, why wouldn't the creators borrow things from it that worked as they develop the canon character? _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

I think once a million Cassies showed up...they decided to nix the real Cassie character. _________________

The problem is that, ever since CiW, so many people have posted something like "Since CiW says this, this part of LG15 must be true..." Not everyone understands the role of CiW as a fan-created ARG/story. And the Creators seemed to try to back away from Cassie (at least until their little nod to CiW for video 100). So we're all a little cautious when CiW comes into conversation. Because as much as we liked her, she needs to be distanced from the character Cassie... _________________ President of the Owen Fan Club |

You're welcome. I'm passionate about the creepy dead girl

Yes... And let's not forget the problem of infinite Cassies (OMG! What was the symbol on that box that Daniel found?! )

OK... First question's answer: I have a history of joking about CiW being canon, even after being told otherwise. I'm always trying to find a place to inject CiW humor. Can't answer for anyone else.
Second question's answer: That's what caused me to blow a gasket

I think they have laughs about us a lot. "Let's get a close up of this flower and see what they come up with"...etc...lol. _________________

Which video is that? Got a link? |
When I Get To The Bottom Where I Stop
Warning.. Disturbing images included... Which is what prompted the Creators' reaction...

edit: Just to clarify, this video includes the two crime scene photos. The Creators didn't react until after the fans did, which leaves some to believe that "The Creators Lie," as CiW would have put it. |
Oh. the Helter Skelter one. Yeah. That was pretty creepy. Glad the creators didn't choose to go down that road.
So maybe the creators were more involved in CIW than they let on, (no one seems to know who the CIW game PM's were) and were using it to test the water and see what the audience would accept? Also a way of offering more mature material without compromising the LG15 family rating. (I'm sure both those points have been postulated before.)
It all seems pretty nebulous. I still think it is likely we will be seeing more of canon Cassie in the future, and possible there will be many elements from CIW integrated into her character.

Many of us feel the Creators had to be involved (at least to some degree) very early on. Otherwise, how would the CiW creators (little "c") know where the swimming and park videos took place. But none of us know for sure... _________________ President of the Owen Fan Club |

Agreed.
And to address the "Too many Cassies" issue. All the Cassies only demonstrate that there is tremendous interest in her. She's very popular. The Creators would be foolish not to capitalize on that.
Integrating them coherently is a classic interactive plot line challenge - and isn't exploring the possiblities of interactive plotlines what the LG15 Creators get off on? _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

Yeah, you're getting the gist of it. It is all pretty nebulous, and no one really knows for sure, other than The Creators and CiW's PM's. There are those who claim to know more, but I'm not sure how seriously to take those claims... Many can be dismissed, but some can't be quite so easily... Then you have me...
