Ok, so I'm heading out to run errends right now, so I can't try any of your suggestions for a bit, but I need help.
I have no sound on my computer. And yes, everything is plugged in and turned on, so don't ask me that
Any suggestions as to what I should be looking into? I am very technologically challenged, so I have no clue. And this has been going on for days, so the last few videos have been pretty useless for me |

My dad's computer did that to me the other night. I restarted it and it worked, still don't know what was up. _________________

"Have you tried turning it off and on again?"
No, seriously... Sometimes things fix themselves... But, assuming you've already done that, what kind of computer? What operating system and version? Assuming Windows, look for the little speaker icon down by the clock. If it's not there, it's possibly a driver issue. Reinstalling the drivers might help, but I'd need to know more details about your system (what version of Windows, is it a name brand computer? Make/model, if so, etc.) to walk you through reinstalling the drivers...

some ideas, i'm not an expert, though:
1. if your speakers have batteries, check them
2. i assume you know how to pull up the volume control panel, and that the levels aren't muted or down in error.
3. go under "sound and audio devices" under control panel (assuming you are running windows), and look for any error msgs or yellow exclamation point icons. (under the "hardware" tab, you can check to make sure your audio devices are noted as working properly). _________________ “Can't repeat the past? Why of course you can!” |

Something I had happen once is that I turned the volume down without realizing it. If you're using Windows then down in the right hand corner there should be a little picture of a speaker or some kind of icon that will let you get to your sound settings. If you don't see it then click on the little arrow (<) to show all the icons. Open up that and adjust your volume. The speakers may also have an external volume control that you should check.
I know you said that everything is plugged in, but make sure that everything is plugged into the right spots. If you plug your speakers into the input jack then you're not going to get any sound.
Also, if you have headphones on the computer make sure they're not plugged in. Plugging in headphones may very well bypass the speakers. |

Yes, its been turned off and on multiple times (gee, that sounds kind of dirty ). My computer is an HP Pavillion a1129n. I have Windows XP. And all my volumes are correct and nothing is muted. |

So, the speaker icon is there beside the clock? Hold on... Gotta looks something up real quick...

OK... I'm back... Maybe try installing the latest sound drivers from HP? The page is here.

I'm not... I've just paid my IT dues "in the trenches," so to speak
And the real question is, did the reinstall help?
