What's the difference between LG15 (fake; number one on youtube) and The Godfather (also fake but one of the most popular movies ever made)?

Actually, some of us don't give a shit about the 13-year-old girls and 40-year-old guys who video blog on YouTube and actually just like the videos for the references to Aleister Crowley and H.P. Lovecraft and the "unofficial" ellaborate alternate reality games that seem to follow the videos around. The life of an average 16-year-old would actually be a fairly dull thing to watch.
YouTube is a brilliant resource - the people's television. Honestly, a bunch of independently-made "soap operas", although still lame, might be the next step towards using the resource to it's fullest potential.

The difference is that people see The Godfather under the premise of it being fictional - that is not the case of lonelygirl15. In my opnion, I think that makes lonelygirl15's deal-i-o a superior medium of artistic expression. (Before I get flamed, I said medium. I didn't say anything about the content) But of course that's going to enrage the...Minions of Greyface.

Of course, there is something to be said about Farenheit 451 by Ray Bradbury http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fahrenheit_451 and its comment on all these "television" type things.
"Clarisse dies early in the story and acts as a catalyst to Guy's transformation. Guy develops from a loyal servant of the state's ideology to a self-confident human being with his own free will."
Kinda reminds me of Cassie dying and helping us get away from this contrived commercial farce of lonelygirl15....
oh wait, cassie might be canon and some of us are still here. |

Someone should really do a modern version of Fahrenheit 451..it's a great story...Oooothis gave me an idea for a GREAT off the cuff thread..well at least I think it's great.
