I have a feeling that either A.) The creators have given us Cassie because we want Cassie (without paying a whole lot of attention to the swimming conversation) or B.) Bree was getting uncomfortable with the conversation she was having with Daniel and decided to try to get out of it.
Edit: The first impression I had of the Swimming video was that Cassie was mentioned to give some backstory, that maybe the creators didn't have a particular plot involved with her. I could, of course, be totally wrong.
If Bree isn't being on the level, then this certainly would fit with "Bree tells lies."

oh my gosh.. just watched the video... im so excited she mentioned cassie.... and now soooo curious bout lucy... (is she the girl daniel filmed with bree in the stalker video?)
so i found it weird that she mentioned cassie was a "friend". In the swimming video, it seemed she was just some girl bree "kinda" remembered and walked around the track with her. I dont know, just puzzled me a little.
Oh and another thing- the reason i knew there a was a new video is cuz i was checkin my myspace and she put a bulletin up announcing it. THis is the first time shes done this I think? Not a clue, or anything significant, but I thought it was kinda cool. Got me over to watch it right away. Goodbye myspace hellooooo the world of lg15. Yipee.

Just because it scares her doesn't mean it's bad...a bar mitzvah or baptism can be terrifying...graduating from high school. Anything like that.
I don't think this video actually has a whole lot of new info in it...we just need to wait to see what happens next! |

Public speaking is consistently within the top three things that make Americans nervous/scared. Bree has been chosen to assist in a big deal, high level ceremony which her parents aren't even able to attend, and she has to phonetically memorize lines in a magical language. It's a completely legitimate interpretation that "scared" here refers to her not wanting to screw up or make a fool of herself.

Personally, I think the creators are distancing themselves further from ciw by explaining Cassie, since they've been watching our theorizing all along. They're trying to make Cassie more real and less important (I think). That's why I'm guessing the issue with Cassie is more of a triangle thing. (Bree & Cassie = friends. Daniel & Cassie = relationship. Bree & Daniel = relationship.)
I don't think we should be tied into the whole religion thing w/ Cassie, since it's entirely based on our own theories (and some clues from ciw, which may or may not be canon). |
I find this point very interesting, I because if you take the whole Cassie Is Watching aspect away from the LG15 world, it is very weird, that she would all of sudden mention Cassie again.
Because if Cassie has no relevance to the story. Why would she need to be brought back up.
But if you include the fact that we all have been going crazy over at the CiW forum, then it seem that the creators are talking directly to us, and letting CiW fans know that in fact Cassie is a Fanfic ARG, and not part of there world. (Which if true I think is truly amazing and should be commended)
I also believe this because their new revelation about Cassie seems to fly in the face of everything that we have been theorizing about how Cassie ties in with the LG15 world. And the pieces that we where just given do not seem to fit with our view of Cassie

Personally, I'd go with your A guess and not your B, only because Bree brought up the Cassie convo in the first place (I'm basing it on the transcripts stickied on this thread)...so if she got uncomfortable with the way the conversation was headed, common sense would tell her not to bring it up in the first place!
But now your A guess, that's exactly what I was thinking! We know that the whole LG15 thing is supposed to be (Bree? ) interactive, that we can influence the storyline. The Creators have distanced themselves from CiW, but that whole ARG has taken off to become very popular. Perhaps this is The Creators doing exactly what you said--giving us what we want, without the whole CiW vid creepiness.
Edited for spelling and whatnot, for I'm typing and drinking, a dangerous (and amusing!) combination.

I think that option B completely makes sense. When Bree says that she doesn't remember what Cassie looked like it just seemed hasty to me like she wanted to change the subject. |

Also the admin's said, when talking about the previous video, that the house has nothing top do with the interactive part of the story. At this point CiW is the only interactive part. Maybe they didn't originally have anything to do with CiW - but took it over?

I dunno. There are a good number of us who think/thought that Cassie was Christian. The "Thou shalt not suffer a witch to live" bit adds well to that.
I like the idea of the occult not being teh ebil!!11! since that's played out. If they tout this as a great new artform they better not just rehash the same tired story in a new medium. |
