Senior Customs Officer!! I work on the freight side, so our district deals with freight importations from other countries and finding drugs, fags, booze, meat etc in them. Then occasionally doing controlled deliveries and arresting the importers.
Quite good fun.
I'm more office-based these days though, managing the team that coordinates all the other teams and tells them what to do.

I see... Is the airport security linked to Interpol or the London police or is it independent?

Airport security (i.e. security checks on passengers bags etc) is done by the airport authority HAL. The police also patrol the airport, so that would either be the Met Police or the British Transport Police, or Special Branch. Customs is a seperate Government Department (HM Revenue & Customs) and we're responsible for imports & exports, and for controlling the importation of prohibited and restricted items. Then there's Immigration, which is another seperate agency that is responsible for doing the passport checks and stopping illegal immigrants etc from coming in!! Then there's the Serious Organised Crime Agency (SOCA) which is responsible for progressing the large scale crimes, on behalf of Customs and the Police, and is made up of former Customs and Police officers!!
They keep talking about a single border agency but it's still years off I would imagine.
