Jonas said in one of the videos following the death of Bree's dad that the people who killed him weren't really concerned about them getting away.

And, let's face it, macho as Daniel and Jonas are, "they" had a gun and obviously weren't afraid to lay out Bree's dad, so they could have taken Bree with them right then, if they'd wanted to. But for some reason, they let her escape.

I think the order is all about proving to Bree how powerful they are, and that if she doesn't do what they want her to do, all the people she loves are toast.

I suppose you're right... The distinction that anything short of physically forcing her into the ceremony is "free will" just seems so arbitrary and weak. But really, what other reason would they have for not just making her do it?

I agree that it seems pretty arbitrary...and it doesn't fit my own theory of free will very well, but it could have something to do with it.
I think the other side of this is that we don't really know what Bree will have to do after the ceremony. Maybe she has to remain pretty commimtted after it's over, thus making it necessary to convince her that she can never back out?

If the ceremony is some kind of initiation into The Order, Bree will never be able to get out after it is preformed.

Question I'm not sure what you mean? Do you mean that they would kill her if she tried to leave? Or that she would be "brainwashed"?

Either way, it speaks towards the reason that Bree has to commit herself to the ceremony I suppose.
