Popped in for a sec just before going to work - but heres an idea -
Maybe the "I Drew" clue is just telling us to look at the clocks - from the title of the first book - "The Secret of the Old Clock" (if memory serves - something like this happened in another puzzle - wasn't there but just reading up). The X's and Y's could be just confirmation we are on the right track. Or perhaps a clue as to how to interepret other clocks (???) as XX/Xy puzzles (???)
I wonder if there are mentions of clocks or, gulp, times for sure, on particular pages in the other Nancy Drew books that she gave Daniel. Maybe we (someone) needs to, gulp, read through the books. (I think she did that with the movies).
Anyways - off to work - happy reading _________________ ..-. .-. . . / -... . . .-. Glug Glug |

What comes before you? Your parents? This started with Bree's parents, didn't it? I mean, that isn't too insane, right?
I came to that because of the note Tach left with the original drop:
Quote: | My father gave me all of
these when I was a
little girl, but they got
left behind when we moved.
The knowlege has always
served me well, so I
thought this might teach
you a thing or two.

What did Bree's dad "leave behind?" We know she hasn't told us a lot of what he told her before he died. I'm just wondering how important that is.

Was finally able to get a screenshot to see how many books there really are...I don't have photo editing software, so I can't sharpen the image to read any of the titles... |

You guys need to remember that this has nothing to do with the heart drawn on the window..the actor that plays Jonas said that he drew the heart there. _________________ What ever happened to that girl BA?

Somebody who knows what's going on, please look at my post under "Brother"; for some reason the board isn't showing a new post there. Anyone have any idea why? _________________ You can call me Juli or LLP, whichever suits your fancy.

Since nobody else has said this, I feel the need to point out that that song was NOT from Mary Poppins... it was from the Sound of Music (although it was the same actress).
Honestly though, we discussed this at length last night in the IRC, and the majority of us believe that a. this is not a puzzle, b. this is a puzzle, we just don't have all the information yet, or c. this is a puzzle with training wheels which DB will solve all on his little lonesome to show our new code crackers how it's done.

there are five books..but i'm not sure if we sharpen that image we'd be able to get a clear idea of what the titles are. _________________ kelly

I was an avid fan of Nancy Drew when I was younger and I have the whole series at my parents house. If it can be sharpened even a little, I might be able to make them out... |

yea i'm trying to figure that out right now.
I'm in the same boat. I'd be able to tell prettyfast what the title is, its jsut sharpening the image. _________________ kelly

The clock on the cover of The Secret of the Old Clock for these editions of Nancy Drew shows about 1:42, and the page numbers only go to 180. (I checked.)
The cover looks like this one:

Same here on the sharpening... it makes me suspicious that the portion of the video that is sped up just happens to be that part. If no one's gotten a sharper pic, I may try tonight, to satisfy my own curiousity if nothing else. I'm headed out for a long day of work, though, so don't hold your breath. _________________ imagin

My take on all this: we don't have all the info yet, and maybe we aren't supposed to. It could be that, by design, we are supposed to go step by step with Daniel to solve this password. At best, we may get an opprotunity to provide him with the last piece of information or something to that effect.
Now normally I would say that OpAphid should offer to assist Daniel in decoding the msg, but that wouldn't fit into the story. Even though he is distancing himself from Bree and Jonas, Daniel is still very anti-Order. So OpAphid will not be too involved in this, unless Daniel just throws out the disk in a fit of rage for not being able to figure out the password. Then maybe we can go get it and decode it |

the thing about the disk, if its the one i'm thinking about
they aren't supposed to open it until Tachyon says so...so what the hell is daniel doing trying to open it? _________________ kelly

For those editions, yes, but depending on what cover you're looking at you'll find something different. The dust jacket of the original has the clock pointing at 2:55 (11 and 3):
That's also from the Nancy Drew Library:

I'm not so sure we should be limiting ourselves to just younger editions, especially since older ones aren't so easy to find (in good condition anyway), and since -- even if they had an older one -- they may not have wanted to use a more valuable, more fragile one for this purpose. I also don't think we should be limiting ourselves to the younger ones since this 11, 3, and "where it all began" thing seems too similar to be unrelated. |
