Her character, not her looks, buddy. I'd tap that. And then I'd tell her how inconsistent she was. _________________ Hey! That was my lucky assassin hat! |

The Theta is similar to an Egyptian symbol that represents the Sun, and the Mu was derived from the Egyptian hieroglyphic symbol for water. So the Sun equals Ra...and the water equals Naunet? Or maybe Poseidon? When combined this "watcher" symbol establishes that the Order rules and watches over all that exists in between.
Theta is the 8th letter, Mu is the 12th. So that's one more 12, but the 8 = ?.
Theta was also used as an abbreviation for "Thanatos," and considered a warning of death. |
I think it's pretty obvious what we're being told here. "Watchers" are like the guardians of everything between the Sun and the water. Usually they are not dangerous, however they can also bring death wherever they go.
Sort of like James Bond with his license to kill. He doesn't have to, but he can. _________________ A trickster god with a modern twist.

The part that seems more ambiguous is, of course:
Quote: | Theta is the 8th letter, Mu is the 12th. So that's one more 12, but the 8 = ?. |

I don't think it's so obvious (certainly no else has suggested that). To me it looks like something that would go along with an Illuminati-like theory (an "all-seeing eye"). In other words, that the Order's authority and influence run deep, and they see everything. |

From the note that was in the encrypted file:

I actually have to disagree about "license to kill" thing. A warning of death isn't what causes death itself.
As we've seen, a watcher doesn't seem to have much interest in acting.
I don't think the message was as simple or "obvious" as all that. _________________ Hey! That was my lucky assassin hat!

Just to elaborate on the note if people haven't already seen this:
Quote: | It is worthwhile to note that θῆτα (theta) has the same numerical value in isopsephy as Ηλιος (Helios): 318.
In classical Athens, it was used as an abbreviation for the Greek θάνατος (thanatos, "death") and as it vaguely resembles a human skull, theta was used as a warning symbol of death, in the same way that skull and crossbones are used in modern times. It survives on potsherds used by Athenians when voting for the death penalty.[1] |

Well, with the bowling score, we had two options, really. Either it was a random number pulled out of a hat (no, not THAT one), or it had a purpose.
Rarely are we given random, purposeless, numbers. And she did just mention the 112 again recently. Which makes me lean toward it having a purpose... but no clue what purpose.
My only thought along those lines, so far, is that 12 is quite a common number... and it could reference so many things that we could drive ourselves quite crazy with it. _________________ imagin

Tachyon's wording in that note is similar to the wiki page for theta a just quoted.
It makes me wish I had the source it cited:

or

Damnit-- I really could not care less about relevence to the puzzle right now, but something about this statue-- it looks really familiar and its bugging the hell out of me. |
as dumb as this sounds....it reminds of the abe lincoln statue in DC, like i said...silly |
I actually see the Virgin Mary.
It reminds me of a statue we used to have in school. I could be wrong. I agree with ladron, though, we need to focus on the text. The pictures could be nothing but shiny metal for kids with ADD.
Extra edit: The statue is actually taller than that. It takes up the whole right side.
(A distraction)

Oh cool, thanks, the only online version I found was a lot crappier and more confusing than that.
And true-- every [capital] Mu I've found looks like "M" _________________ Hey! That was my lucky assassin hat! |
