it makes sense the the order is a smart mob..i do think that religion is somehow tied in though. is there an explanation for the ceremony that doesnt involve a religion or worshipping of something? _________________ all thats false will fade away |

There isn't really any explanation to the ceremony at all. We don't know much about it _________________ "Have you uff da'd today?" - Broken Kid |

well you see, a smart mob isn't like...a gang or maffia or anything like that
A smart mob is really just a nick name for a group of people that use the available technologies to communicate and to orginize events. Good examples of this includ flash mobs, and even the OpAphid community when we go and retrieve drops
And Religion is definately tied in. We were orginially explained that the order was a religion. But then we were explained that the order is really just a sect of The Order of Denderah, which is actually a religion.
The religion that bree studies seems to be heavily influenced by Alister Crowley's philosophies, as far as we know. Luckily, however, we know this is correct as the creators told us that all our crowley research is soon going to pay off (Radio show, see nowinla.com:Mixed Media rebroadcast March 6th) _________________ kelly

Quote: | can someone clear this up for me? both of bree's parents arent her real parents right? giddeanx that would explain why they killed her dad without much of a thought, cause he wasnt blood related to her. |
I don't see how this explains why they would kill her dad. I believe the basic reasoning behind the murder of her fatehr was because he betrayed the order in telling Bree EXSACTLY what is going on and by helping her escape.
I think we can safely assume that both of her parents did not leave the money and letter in pmonkey as we know Bree's mother is a high represetative of the order.
But yea, Bree's parents who raised here are not her biological parents.

Bree's father raised Bree to question everything. I think they are science oriented to a point. With ancient religions such as their own, it's common knowledge that science got heavily in the way when every religion attempted to teach their new followings. But unfortuantely for them their mythology was no longer needed to answer unanswered question. Great geniuses such as gallileo and capurnicus answered those question with science. _________________ kelly

We call on deities to watch over us and we pray to them -- same as any mainstream religion-- but I've never seen anyone, of any religion, trying to resurrect a god.
I think you may be watching to much television. No offense, I just mean that you have a somewhat skewed idea of what people are doing in "ceremonies". I've been studying religions of the world for years, and the reality is, no one, short of those who watch too much Charmed and Buffy maybe, is out there trying to raise anybody. |
I'm Wiccan too and I watch too much Charmed I haven;t heard of any religion trying to resurrect a god. I really like Charmed, but I think some people take the show (I'm only using Charmed as an example) too literally. Just because you see it on TV, doesn't mean it can be done/will be done/should be done. |

I was taken out of context and misquoted. I was replying to this.

I don't know. I think they do believe in some of crowley's ideas using occult ceramonies and the like. They just use high technology as a means to an end. From how gemma described them the watchers are not exactly the "priests" of the belief structure they are more like paladins. Also if she is part of the founding family so is her dad and they did him in.
However I completely agree with you that they are hiding something big. |
I was simply stating if her bloodline were that important they wouldnt have killed her father. Not knowing of course that they were foster parents.

I would say her religion itself may foster independent thought. In Aleister Crowley's Book of Law this is stated. "Do what thou wilt shall be the whole of the Law." If the religion is based off of Aleister's ideas. Then Bree's free spirit would be applauded. (This could also be why she has to do the ceremony on her own). |

Merry meet! And don't get me wrong! I like Charmed and I LOVE Buffy! I'm just saying that people who base their ideas on Wicca on only their knowledge of what they see about it on TV can get the wrong idea of what it really is and what we really do as a part of the religion.
I actually give both shows credit for at least giving Wicca a positive role in the shows as opposed to having another ugly, green faced hag. |
