I'd kick my husband in the throat. Then exclaim "How can you be my husband?! We're not in Massachussetts!" _________________ Why was there BACON IN THE SOAP?! |

I would tell him to swallow his pride. I mean, nobody wants a handout... but if you really need it and you have family that is able to help, you should take it. _________________

i agree with kas also.
you have children, correct? you could explain to your husband that this money isn't just for you two, it's for the children as well. _________________

I'd be careful about doing that.
Some males might take it as a suggestion that they're not adequate providers for their families. Depends on the situation, really, and the personalities involved. Sad to say, but most financial situations involve ego on some level. And if he's already irritable, any provocation won't help you achieve your goal, no matter how reasonable and practical the stated position is.
I'd put it to him directly. You need the money, the financial situation isn't going to be an ongoing thing, you love him and respect him, accepting the money will make things better and allow your family to move on.
Also, bribe him with sex. Remain calm, use your wiles and charms, lower his guard, THEN, when it's done and he's at his weakest, mention you love him... how strong he is, etc. What a good man he is. Gradually reveal to him how much he means to you, allude to the situation not being permanent, etc. End with the idea that it's beneficial to the two of you. _________________ Tenser, said the Tensor.

that's a good point, sheikh. ego is most likely the main reason behind him not wanting to accept the money. _________________

That's why I said he needs to swallow his pride. I'm like that, I HATE borrowing money...but there have been a couple times where I had to begrudgingly accept my parent's help. I just keep track and pay back what I can when I can. _________________

Of course he needs to swallow his pride. The trick is getting him to do so without letting him realize that he's doing it.
So, I'd go the route of seduction. Sex is great for releasing stress, and you'd mean everything you tell him. You love him, etc. As for getting him to accept the money... It's in his best interests, too. Just don't let him know that you know that. Talk about it in terms of yourself, or of the two of you as a couple. And make it sound like genuine concern-- again, not a lie.
It's simply a matter of framing the truth so that it makes sense to him. _________________ Tenser, said the Tensor.

Hey, I'm the one in my relationship that needs to swallow my pride and accept help...like, the guy I guess. I know...but when you have kids, you can't always play nice and tiptoe. I'm too blunt for that, anyway, haha. _________________

A better trick would be to tell him to stop being such a "macho" shit. _________________ Why was there BACON IN THE SOAP?! |
