Okay. I imagine this has been brought up before, but I'm thinking it over more and more today.
What is WITH almost every woman in the series so far being evil or Orderites?
Lucy
Gemma
Alex
The creepy women in the Oppy vids
Take away Random Girl. Tachy, and Bree of course (which, of course, we don't know anything for sure about the Breester - the Creators could decide to turn her evil...bwahaha)
Anyone else find this significant in that there seems to be very few, to no men in power? (besides the "Order guys" in the elevator and the Watchers)...but even the Watchers are just that - fairly unsignificant, powerless characters. They just stand around. They take no action, have no power, create minimal drama except to get our heroes back on the road again...etc.
Hmm...what do you think? _________________ onsweetavenue: "G for Gemma? Are you writing us from hell? Does Satan have wifi?"

Well it does seem that the Order is made up of mostly Women: Lucy, Gemma, Alex, Bree's mom, Bree herself before she ran away... guys seem to be the minority in that organization. |

They really are. Which is odd to me...and I know somebody has talked about that theory before - the "women in charge only" thing. It just seems odd that so far, there are no evil male characters.
........yet.

One of the things that originally engaged me about this series is that the principle, Bree, was both beautiful and smart. She also had an element of innocent strength. Rare qualities to see combined in a female character. I also like the strength of Tachyon, having the courage to stand up against the huge machine of the order, and the cleverness to do so.
Originally, I felt male and female characters were treated equitably. I'm disappointed with the recent turn of Alex, which definitely tips the scale towards "Beautiful, intelligent woman = Evil".
I'm hoping this is only a temporary plot twist, and not a permanet direction.
I would love to see Alex snap out of her stupor, align herself with "The good guys (and gals)" get back into photography and start photo documenting what the Order has been up to. Or any other plot device that shows her as being the intelligent, capable, mature woman she first appeared to be. _________________ You made a wise choice, Bree.

We should remember, Avajoy, that two of the main characters are men. Since it makes sense to the storyline for the Order to purposely place themselves in their lives of DBJ, what better way to "Infiltrate" than to use a beautiful woman. Let's face it, a beautiful female can be a man's Achille's Heel; and since the Order raised Bree to not really desire a man, it's impossible to get to her through a man; nor would they want to try, as she is to remain "pure". Women are a convenient and easy way to infiltrate DBJ (especially through Daniel, who is a "playa" and tends to lose his inhibitions and common sense when drunk).
I don't know that Alex or Gemma were really that high up in the Order. Was that established somewhere and I didn't catch it?
Also, we know that OpAphid is only the enforcement arm of the Order. I think that if we were to go higher up in the ranks, we would find that there would be more men there.
Oh, and Avajoy, you forgot Dr. Immant.

It was never stated specifically, but I had always believed Gemma to NOT be very high up in the order. She did know things more than Bree, but I believe that was because she was being coached by Lucy to talk about specific things like the Watchers. The order kind of just used her like a pawn really. That's why I believe she wasn't very high up.
I guess everyone forgets that so far the Deacons have all been MALE. Those men are very high up in the order, if not the top. I guess we forget that OpAphid is only a PART of the order, and even though Op has a lot of power it is apparent that she is not in charge of everything. Then again maybe I interpret things wrong. |

The whole evil man bit is worn out.

I have been noticing a certain trend in media. Strong women are in and they appeal to both sexes. Men have taken secondary roles more and more often showing tender side and feelings. LG15 does the male roles well. They are strong in thier own right, they have genuine feelings, and they are not degredated just because they are male. Female roles are also believable. And niether fall into the current comic cookie cutter ie... the woman(mom) is savvy and the man(dad) is always making a mistake or is a complete moron. (I hate watching commercials)
So really the split in teams does not bother me that much as long as they handle the characters well. And don't forget Brother, he wouldn't forget you. _________________ "But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

oh.
i thought this thread was going to be about which female actresses in lg15 were the hawttest.
but powerful women are sexy. the guys go to the other extreme in this series, with the "Homeless Watcher" at the bottom of the totem pole. _________________ “Can't repeat the past? Why of course you can!” |

I don't know how true that is...
Order:
Lucy
Gemma
Alex
Opaphid
Anti-Order:
Bree
Tachyon
Random girl
That is a 4:3 ratio of women who actually had real camera time... Add in Bree's mom and (assuming everyone at the party was orderites)the women at the party that really stood out (3?). 7:3 or 2:1. (6 or 7 vs 3)
For the men... Jonas and Daniel are good of course... and I guess Bree's dad turned out good in the end... but looking at all the people who may not have talked Lucy's boys, the watcher by the pool... the watcher at the store, the watcher outside of Jonas's house (assuming it's not the same watcher... if I am wrong than I am sorry)... then we get to the party. It seemed to me there were more men than women at the party. That's at a ratio of 5:1. Even if it is the same watcher the lowest it could be is 4:1. 7-10 vs 2
I definitely think that women hold rank in the Order. I think as far as the entire organization... I don't think one sex significantly out numbers the other. _________________ I Lurker!! He is my King. I bow to no other.

Well, I think it's good to see women in power, even if they are evil. Tachyon kicks ass too.
And we haven't really seen all the members of the Order yet, so there are probably a lot of men in high positions that we just haven't met. |

also, bree's mom had a higher position in the order than her father. _________________ Ever since they got rid of OpAphid, I can't think of a good sig. |

^^ That's true, and another part of my point. Women seem to hold the most power and respect in the Order - which, don't get me wrong, isn't a bad thing! I just get sick of seeing these beautiful, strong women turn out to be "bad guys", ya know? _________________ onsweetavenue: "G for Gemma? Are you writing us from hell? Does Satan have wifi?"

Just because most of the balls you pulled you pulled out the bag are red doesnt mean they are all red. There may be more blue left in the bag. _________________ "But I don't want to go among mad people," Alice remarked.

One thing to think about...the Order knows Bree. Bree craves friends...adn everytime there's another girl around she remarks how nice it is. So...the order sends more females they think bree might befriend? Maybe not. Meh. _________________
