So I just went to the dental office to get some teeth filled,
and I didn't eat before. (I wanted my teeth to be SPOTLESS for the dentist.)
After I was all done, I bought some pizza and hungrily chomped that thing down.
but the left side of my face was numb.
and I ended up chewing my lip up to ALL hell.
I only noticed because there was blood on my pineapple and ham.
now my face is numb, im bleeding, and i have a fat lip.

Aww, I'm sorry!! I know how you feel, because I had my FIRST filling last Wednesday. Let's just say my dentist is retarded and doesn't know how to numb my tooth but can numb my throat to the point that I can barely swallow.
I hope your lip feels better.
P.S. Oh yeah, she calls herself "No Pain Jane." Pfft. She equals . _________________ Vice President of the Owen Fan Club

*hugs* I can thanks four pulled teeth and five fillings for my hatred of the dentist. Very few things are more uncomfortable than the feeling of two huge, numb pillows attached to your face
Has anyone ever seen the dentist part of the skit in "Bill cosby, himself?" Pure classic! _________________ In heaven, all the interesting people are missing... |

Wisdom teeth are a terrible thing to lose. Although I've discovered that fillings aren't much better.
I've never seen that Bill Cosby skit, but I bet it's hilarious. _________________ Vice President of the Owen Fan Club

Ugh, don't even get me started on how scary dentists are. I've been through a lawsuit with one for injuries, actually. I don't want to go into the details, though. It was so scary, though. Luckily, my face wasn't mutilated. Can't say the same for my sanity. |

Im jumping on the I hate dentists bandwagon.. when i was only 12, i had surgery in my mouth, and at my followup appt, he f***ed up and ended up having to make another incision.. He DIDNT freeze my mouth and started to cut.. and when the assistant came in and said "oh you already froze her?" he said 'woops'!.. i couldnt talk.. but i had tears coming down my face, kicking my feet (not too hard, didnt want him to cut the wrong spot GAWWD) and my knuckles were white.. havent been back since.. lol _________________ Whatever you undertake, act with prudence, and consider the consequences. |

The last time I went to the dentist, he had to pull a tooth... He injected me with about a dozen syringes of novacain, enough for me to have difficulty walking when it's supposed to be a local, and it still hurt so much that I wanted to come up out of the chair and punch him! He said if I ever need another one pulled, he's referring me to an oral surgeon instead.

my sister has that prob.. basically whats happening is your nerves move differently than most, causing you to be frozen pretty much everywhere else instead of the injection site.. messed _________________ Whatever you undertake, act with prudence, and consider the consequences. |

I think the tooth was actually locked in place... He used a drill to cut it in half, and still had trouble getting it to come out...

Oh man, wintermute--that sounds absolutely terrible!
When I had a filling a few weeks ago, my dentist had to use 2 different anesthetics. And neither of them worked. I've heard wonky theories about redheads being difficult to numb and that they bleed more. True or not, I could not for the life of me have my tooth numbed. Sure, I could barely swallow because my throat was so numb, but I definitely felt that drill. _________________ Vice President of the Owen Fan Club

I've had seven fillings, and I haven't had anaesthetic for any of them.
Relaxation and meditation are handy things.
Though when I get my wisdom teeth out this semester, I'll need to go under, since they have to cut giant holes in my mouth to get to them. There's no way I'm even attempting meditation for that.
The worst was when I didn't eat anything before going when my tooth was really sensitive, and then finding out after he puts the numbing gel stuff on it (that numbs it for like three weeks, it's great) that I can't eat for twelve hours. The appointment was at 2:00 in the afternoon. ... yeah, that was not a fun time. |
