Bree,
Last night I got into a big argument with my best friend about the purity bond was. My bff said that the purity bond was virginity, and that if you (or the new girl) lost your virginity you wouldn't be fit to do the ceremony. But, I said that it couldn't be about virginity because the hymn of one website said "We place no reliance on virgin or pidgeon. Our method is science, our aim is religion.", so that even if both the you and the new girl lost your virginity, the order could still use you do the ceremony.
I also had an idea that maybe, when Alex said that they had a new girl, she was talking about herself. Is there any reason why Alex would not be able to do the ceremony? _________________ Julia, Talyor, Sarah, Bree, will any of you Play with Me? |

That's interesting. I wonder what else the purity bond could be if Daniel was such a threat to it? Maybe the purity bond is psychological.
Then again, 'no reliance on virgin,' could allude to a rejection of catholicism. I know there's at least a couple of thelemans on here who may be able to tell us what the real-life Aleister Crowley meant by it. Of course, Thelema may tell us little about HoO, a fictional religion. _________________ Cut scene to BDJ in a lubed-up cuddlefest. |

Is it possible the purity bond could deal with purity of thought? Not in the sexual sense, but in purity to the religion. Daniel has definitely threatened that. |

Maybe ... but the order still wanted Bree to do the ceremony after she'd been running from them for months, and clearly did not think highly of them. _________________ Cut scene to BDJ in a lubed-up cuddlefest. |

Maybe they thought his conditioning (ok, we'll assume he had some, right?) would hold and he would bring Bree into the fold. Then again when they all were caught, we never did establish (except through Alex, ahem) that it wasn't for the purpose of brainwashing Bree back into the fold.
Is it possible that you could have broken conditioning, Bree? Have you had thought about just going back for the ceremony to get it all over with? |

Does anyone else find it humorous that the carrier pidgeon that has been bringing Maddie messages now has a myspace?
"We place no reliance on virgin or pidgeon". Dang right. Only Mr. Zipp relies on pidgeons.

I think the purity bond is the desire not to, and not indulge in, "sin".
This would also include indulging in the "sin" of sex.

Ah, then it's no wonder they're still after you, Bree. I've always admired that you're not really into the boozy activities of other people our age. I'm like that and sometimes I feel like I'm some sort of freak. I feel sad that it sounds like the order is going to use that against you.[/quote] _________________ Cut scene to BDJ in a lubed-up cuddlefest.

| Daniel threatened purity of religion, but like Juli says the bond could be the desire not to. By capturing Daniel and brainwashing him, maybe they thought they were dealing with that. Daniel may have broken his conditioning when he was rescued. |

Am I right, Bree? |
I'm not interested in speculations by others. I asked this question of Bree. _________________ Julia, Talyor, Sarah, Bree, will any of you Play with Me? |

No, I didn't say that. If people want to add their concerns to mine that's fine. if Bree told someone something about the purity bond I 'm interested in hearing that too, or if people KNOW about the purity bond from personal experience with the Hymn of One. But I don't want to hear speculation from people who don't have a clue about what the purity bond is, and are trying to impose their own views based on other religions on to it. That was what my best friend was trying to do and what caused the argument to begin with. So thats why I want to hear the truth, not speculation. _________________ Julia, Talyor, Sarah, Bree, will any of you Play with Me? |

"Impose their own views"? I think you missed the question mark and the name "Bree" that came before it at the end of the post in question. |
