Oh man, definitely. What exactly are we looking for? I think the clearest answer is the difference between Julia and Bree. And it's definitely pointed to something measured in picograms in the blood. It's on the periodic table. Something in the spacing and sentence structure points to the element/s we're looking for. But what? Aaarrrggghhh.

Taylor said that some sentences cut half way, while others are jammed. Should we look specifically at those sentences?

EDIT: But wait. If we do find out which element we're looking for, what difference does it make? It'll be fascinating to know, and possibly helpful in the future, but it doesn't help as to finding Bree currently.

Yeah, that'd suck. But hopefully the note has something else useful in it that could help the guys help Bree.

Okay, I give up for the night. I've run into a block. I mean, as far as I can tell, the only sentence cut half way is "I left money on/The table". The only jammed sentence is that last one, and the only fragmented one is "I love you very much. More than you know."

Anyway, I can't even type at this point. I'll be back sometime tomorrow. Good luck!

This note was left to Bree by her father long ago, well before Jules came in the picture. I don't see why this note would be related to the difference between Jules and Bree. Ok, now, there could be some indications in there about what makes Bree's blood special. BUT, I don't see why Dad would talk about that in the last note he ever wrote to Bree.... that makes no sense.

This makes the most sense to me as well, Daniel.

The bookshelf is in Bree's room, in case you've forgotten.

Maybe you could light those candles while your in there.

:D

I have that book, I read it a few months ago.

"Surely You're Joking Mr. Feynman "- by Richard Feynman
There isn't a periodic table in it, but even if there was, all periodic tables of the elements are the same, if you've seen one you've seen them all. The book is an autobiography, it's mostly about his high jinks, not much about Quantum Mechanics, it's about him playing practical jokes on his colleges, getting laid and smoking pot.

I'm not joking about him smoking pot.

:)

Actually, I meant check the particular copy in Bree's house, where her dad may have hidden a message that might correspond to a periodic table.
And as long as I'm bringing up several page old history, I think when Daniel said "he also left some money in there", "in there" could mean the house, rather than the monkey.
And yet, I digress from Taylor's advice.

You guys are great. Amazing research and thought! However, I think we've strayed a bit from the original note -

Yes Taylor, we most certainly got carried away, but that's what we do here and we like it that way! Have you ever heard about gayliens? Shocked

Obviously the note points to something in the periodic table. Everything we've ever learned about the Ceremony points to something to do with blood. Julia is negative for what we're looking for, while Bree is positive. What makes Bree's blood special is what makes her DIFFERENT from Julia. Hence, the difference between Julia and Bree.

Why would he do it? We already know the two of them communicated in code all the time. This note is a perfect opportunity to transmit information. There's a reason we've just been able to read it.

As for what we are trying to answer, I have a feeling this will reveal the "trait" for which Julia is negative and Bree is positive. Smile

I do more lurking than I do adding my two cents, but I just had to ask:

When were we told that Bree tested positive? Perhaps testing negative is what they were looking for? Like testing negative for HIV?

Everyone seems to think that Jules testing negative for this trait makes her inviable, but what if it's just the opposite?

Also, I think we may be conjecturing that whatever Bree discovered in this letter caused her to turn herself over to the Order, yes? Maybe it wasn't so much something that connected her to Jules, but more along the lines of telling Bree something about -herself- that would cause her to make the decision she did.

I tend to like the theory that her father was trying to tell her something simply, and used big, scientific words (possibly tied to inside jokes) to do it. Something that makes the layman go "Huh?" but to a person in the "Know", makes obvious sense.

That, and all the massive decrypting makes my head hurt.

I didn't really offer any solutions, but I had a lot of questions instead.

Impulse makes a good point.

Bree spent time looking over this note carefully. I remember her poring over it during the Thanksgiving video, Daniel. She was looking for something. It was the last connection to her dad that she had at that time. She knew there was more than meets the eye here.

Also, to quote wiki's speculations on Ms. Poppin's and the breakdown of Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious into: "Atoning for educatability through delicate beauty."

-----
"This explication of its connotations suits the fictional character of Mary Poppins, in that she presents herself as both superlatively beautiful and also supremely intelligent and capable of great achievements."
-----

Frankly, I think that as it was nearly the last thing in the letter, I think he was telling Bree in the awkward way a father who is proud of his daughter would say "I think you're beautiful, intellligent, and capable of great things".

Probably.

I notice that you used quotation marks. Bree's dad didn't, and he was quoting someone.

Which means, yet again, that she was keeping stuff from the rest of us. Wonderful.

Anyone else notice there are 10 lines in the note?

We know Bree & her father have used a sort of voicemail tag to communicate before, so...

If you take the last word in each line, count the number of letters in the word and line them up you get: (Taking supercalifragilisticexpialidocious as a 0)

4336254043

433 is not a valid area code... but if you then reverse the digits, 340 is a valid area code for the Virgin Islands.

....not sure if this is helping...
