Another godless heathen here. My parents sent me to the Roman Catholic church growing up, mainly for my grandparents' benefit. They didn't believe any of it, and once I began to move from the stage where I automatically accepted everything I was told by adults as "the way things were" to the stage where I actually started to apply any sort of real thought to the things in my life, I realized I didn't either. In my belief, existence has no meaning any deeper than itself; that is, the meaning each of us gives to our own existence. And I believe I have the ability myself to choose between right and wrong without guidance from any supernatural beings.

I respect all people and their right to believe anything they wish. It's a fairly bizarre and messed up world out there...whatever gets you through it and keeps you relatively sane, I say more power to you. I only take exception to those who would attempt to force their beliefs on others, or otherwise condemn people who believe differently from them. I will say this however. One general tendency I HAVE noticed is that any organized religion seems to become an entity in and of itself, which can often end up working for goals entirely separate from, and possibly even in direct conflict with, the stated belief systems upon which it is based, and the actual individual practitioners of which it consists.
