OMFG.
Taiya might be onto something.
That obvious "I can't believe I missed it" feeling is starting to sink in. |

It just suddenly hit me that it was saying "The first step of any solution".
Okay, but then where does analysis fit in other than just analysing our problem? |

Analysis....I think I even used the word in a few posts, and it didn't even dawn on me. Nice work Taiya. I think it's the best lead so far. |

Analysis seems a little to vague to me... but it may well be right. |

Well, aren't these puzzles about analysis? Isn't that what we've been doing so far?
I guess it makes sense in that we are proving our worth in our ability to analyze what we are being shown and what we are hearing.
I wonder what the other functions of APHID are aside from Analysis. |

A is neither Apophenia or analysis.
Quote: | I sent a message to OpAphid, asking if it was Apophenia. I got 2 replies:
No. Too many letters, and many are wrong.
The A in APHID is the first step in a process or method toward finding a solution. We are challenging you to see how apt you are in that area.
What you suggested has three correct letters: a n e
I will leave it to you to figure out the rest. |
And the second:
Quote: | Also, you are on the right path with the idea. But think in more general terms of problem solving. |

I believe it is Analyze.
The A in Aphid is a 4 to 8 letter word, containing the letters 'A' 'N' and 'E'. It doesn't contain 'P' 'O' 'H' or 'I' . |
