I just wanted to say that tonite, so far, has been GREAT with regards to my original post.

Both the forums and the chat rooms have worked TOGETHER to solve the location of the drop, and everyone was very forthcoming.

I think the creation of the new chat room came at a great time, and, maybe will have everyone thinking about a compromise.

Thanks everyone, for making thisALOT of FUN tonite!!

I sincerely hope Landron makes it to the drop safely, films his discoveries, and that the sharing continues.

You know, when I suggested that a chat be opened during CiW, it was with the hope that it would allow the players to socialize and hash out ideas, without cluttering up the forums.

It certainly wasn't so that an elitist mentality could be fostered by anyone. Use IRC to connect with the other players if you feel like it, but please bring it all back here to the forums.

Anyone can open a Channel on any network, and by all means do so, but stay a bit centered and remember that the only way this will be a good experience is if we make it one.

I keep the chat open, I log it. I check the forums. I can assure you there is far more useful information the forums than in the chat. Chat is less organized, harder to keep up w/ and contains a lot of "fluff".

There is no reason anyone shouldn't be able to get into chat. If you are someplace that doesn't allow chat then you are probably someplace that would not want you in the forums if they knew you were here b/c you are at work or school and they want you to y'know, do some work ;D If your comp can't run java then I don't see how you got here at all since your comp is so deficient that YT should be a far off dream to you.

It is inefficient to do hashing through in the forums, period. But the only information anyone is keeping from you is the stuff that Op told them to. Chat users are excited when they actually think of something worthwhile and rush off to post it on the forum.

What you miss is stuff like this.

ravensgrace helped me sort out some issues. i still cant use java...but i can use chatzilla now.

I would reccomend that anyone who can dl progs onto their comp dl an actual IRC client. Clients are far more stable than java. The most popular one is mIRC but I've been using IceChat7 and had this session open for like a week so anyone who doesn't use mIRC may want to consider that. I keep it in my systray and come back and read the logs later. (Which is how I can be sure how much is junk lol.)

There are all the logs of the chat room for the past week and some extra. the last 2 digits of the filename imply what day it was. Therefore, this logs from November 3rd up until today. Filenames that start with opaphid are of the #opaphid room, those with operationaphid are of the #operationaphid room. Now no one can complain! ^_^
