Or maybe he just doesn't like it. A lot of people are scared to swim or be submerged in water...or even be around bodies of water, but I'm sure they still take showers.

I was surprised that, though swimming at the motel was Bree's idea, and she likes to swim, and she kept bugging everyone else to get in the water, she never did herself.

Daniel wasn't dressed for swimming at the pool. Bree may have been, but we never got a good look at her--- those straps might have been a tank or bra instead. Seemed like the camera made a point not to show us.

I wondered about the olympic/turtle comments... seemed like there ought to be a clue in that... it seemed pretty random.

May be totally irrelevant but hey, it's fun.

"The Jungle Cat is a species that was mummified in tombs in ancient Egypt. In ancient temples they are often depicted hunting small birds and mammals in wall paintings. In ancient times, the cat was a personification of Ra, the sun god, as he battled the water serpent Apep."

Apep was the ancient Egyptian personification of evil.

This is long but really interesting. To address the water thing, the Nile and sea are a key part of the story of these Gods. It brings into play Ra, along with many other previously mentioned Gods. It also brings up Thoth or whatever that word was... which we recognize from earlier, and Serapis.. which I found very interesting connecting to CiW's Second Life name.

Quote:
The Cult of Osiris
The cult of Osiris had a particularly strong interest towards the concept of immortality. According to the myth surrounding the cult, Set (Osiris's evil brother) fooled Osiris into getting into a coffin, which he then shut and threw into the Nile. Osiris's wife searched for his remains until she finally found them and brought them back to Egypt. Once Osiris's evil brother found out, he cut the body into pieces, and again threw them into the Nile. The faithful companion of Osiris, Isis, gathered up all the parts of the body and bandaged them together for a proper burial. The Gods were impressed by the devotion of Isis and thus restored Osiris to life in the form of a different kind of existence as the god of the underworld. Because of his death and resurrection, Osiris is associated with the flooding and retreating of the Nile and thus with the crops along the Nile valley.

Maybe has to do with the ceremony?

In the chinese tradition, Water (Yu) is associated with... winter. ... As many of you know, the pentagram is a significant symbol of protection in Paganism. I noticed this because there is talk of a Thelma based relgion influencing the order.

I also found this concerning the Japanese Five Elements:

Quote:
Sui can be associated with emotion, defensiveness, adaptability, flexibility, suppleness, and magnetism.

In the lassical element article, I read that Water is associated with intuition and time.

This quote is a hodgepodge of what I found most interesting in Killthesmiley's research. Season is winter -- perhaps the real ceremony will happen in winter? Or the winter solstice, December 21st? Might be too far away.

Second, the petagon keeps showing up, and it always seems to find its way into pagan religions. Can't think of anything particularally important with this, but I'll keep thinking.

Third, Its interesting that water represents flexibility when The Order is so rigid. It representing purity makes sense, though, as Bree is "pure". Also, the fact that it represents chaos may point to something that will happen in the ceremony, or something about the nature of "The Order."

"Intuition and time" I'll let JustAnotherLonelyGirl figure this one out, but its certanily what Daniel and Bree are going to need right now, although they may be running low on time. Time, also, seems to play a role in all of this, especially since we don't know WHEN the real ceremony is supposed to be. The Order seems to try and disguise time, or at least their timetable, and they almost seem to be trying to suppress Bree's intuition, too, b/c as soon as she started using it she realized that this ceremony was a bad idea.

Just my two cents.

Also:

Somone made the connection that cats don't like water. Maybe like Daniel.

Ra was a VERY important part of Egyptian relgion; he was the creator, the sun, and was arguably the most important god at certain times in acient Egyptian history (in the New Kingdom, Amon took Ra's rule, and in very ancient times, Ra was simply a local diety). Apep, yes, was evil, and was never destroyed. Apep was from chaos and was an eternal rival of Ra's. Whatever does this mean? No idea.

Yes, that whole Osiris ceremony may have a lot to do with the ceremony!
